Dear host family,

Sawasdee Kha! which is mean hello in Thai language. My name is Yukimi, or Yuki as It’s my nick name. I live in a central part of Thailand. I am 15 years old, I am half Thai - Japanese; my father is Japanese and my mother is Thai. There are 3 members in the family: my mother, myself and my younger sister. My parents are separated. My father is currently lives in Japan, he comes and visits me in Thailand almost every year. He is very kind and loves taking me out to eat delicious Japanese food. And he also teach me some basic Japanese language, but I can speak a few of them. My mother is a mathematics teacher in the public high school. She is very kind and sometimes she can be very strict. My mom has a great talent for cooking, she loves to prepare delicious meals for me and my sister. We love our mom a lot because she takes great care of us. My mother is a hard working person and I do my best to be a good daughter for returning her dedication to our family. I study hard, obey and respect for what my mom taught me. The result is I always ranked in the top five of my class, which makes myself and my mother proud of them. My younger is like my closest friend. I share everything with her and we always help each other out. We enjoy sending funny videos to each other. My family often engages in activities together, like watching movies, playing badminton, and swimming every week. During long holidays, my mother takes us to travel to other provinces. We love nature, such as the sea and mountains, because it helps us relax. During the summer break, my mom took us to visit our grandparents in the countryside whenever possible, which takes about six hours by car. During the summer vacation, we stayed with our grandparents for about a month, and I feel happy to be with of them. My most memorable family trip was when we traveled to Japan. We went to visit my grandparents and we explored places I had never been before, we went to see cherry blossoms, played in the snow, and visited many sightseeing places in Japan, which were all beautiful. The opportunities spend time with someone we love in the place we like is not come to our life often. I embraced it, that was the happiest moment.

For my personality, I think I’m a cheerful person, I like to cheer someone up by making others laugh and happy. I’m a responsible person, For the student’s role, I always finish my homework before the deadline. For the family’s member role, I manage to do the household chores, keeping our house organized and clean. And I also a disciplined person. I manage my life schedule by myself, I usually wake up at 4 in the morning, take a public transportation to my school which is located in the crowded urban and return home on time every day. My friend often told me that I have a leadership personality. Whenever there are group assignments, I’ll be an organized person and keep following until Finished all the tasks. I love learning new things to gain experiences and broaden my perspectives.

My hobbies are cooking, listening to music, swimming, playing badminton, and jogging. These activities keep me healthy while allowing me to enjoy myself. My favorite thing to do is listening to music because it can remarkably change moods and atmospheres. Additionally, I also enjoy coloring pictures in my free time; it is a relaxing and fun activity that helps me develop my concentration and creativity. I often use colored pencils and watercolors, as they each have their unique benefits. And right now, I am currently practicing Muay Thai as a hobby because I want to learn basic self-defense and improve my physical fitness. My instructor says I have some innate skills, so I learn quickly. I usually practice Muay Thai twice a week, and after each session, I feel I gain valuable experiences and creativity.

My school is one of the famous public schools in Thailand, I’m currently studying in grade 9. There are 41 students in my class, and I get along well with both my teachers and classmates. I have a group of five close friends who are chill but also get good grades. We always complete our homework or group assignments before the due date. They are funny, and we enjoy sharing jokes with each other. After school, we like to hang out at the shopping mall near our school. My favorite subjects are English, Social Studies, and Mathematics because they are interesting and useful. They help me gain knowledge and keep my mind active in problem-solving. I am also a member of the Biology and Chemistry club and participate in school activities, such as sports day, where I was a cheerleader and performed aerobics. I also join various important school events like Halloween, Christmas, and New Year’s. Furthermore, I represented my class in a rapid calculation math competition and won second place. My family and I are very proud of this achievement.

I want to participate in a student exchange program to explore myself by living in a foreign country with different educational systems and lifestyles. I hope widen my vision and learn about the outside world. This experience will help me develop not just my language and communication skills, but also the way of thinking and living in the different culture, giving me a chance to realize my true potential and improve myself to be more capable. Expanding my ability to be more self-reliance and distribute to the community when I grow up. I wish to learn and immerse myself in to your culture harmoniously and I also want to share Thai culture with you such as food, the way of greeting, language and the way we are people from the land of smile which we can exchange and make more understanding between American and Thai culture.

I hope will we have a quality time and make a good memory together. Thank you for your dedication for accepting me as a part of your family.
