Dear host family, 

Hello, I am Maria Laurina, I am 15 years old. I am from a small city in the middle of the country. I live in a house with my mom, my brother and my two dogs, Benjamin and Felipe, I love animals! My grandmother lives next door and I see her every day. I also have two older sisters who live on their own but come home regularly. My father died  several years ago but I have a very good memory of him. 

I am studying my third year in  High school. I start at 7 am in the morning and finish at 12.45 every day. In the afternoon I go to the gym and have English classes.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends, going for walks, riding my bike around my city, reading, studying, watching movies and series.
I have been looking forward to this exchange in the US for a long time. I feel it will be an enriching and unforgettable experience that will teach me great lessons for life, a dream come true.
 
I am interested in getting to know new traditions, places, cultures and trying new types of food as well as sharing mine. Apart from that, I am really excited about attending a new school, making new friends and improving my English. That is why I would really appreciate this opportunity to spend five months away in a foreign country with a host family, where I can feel part of my new family, share their daily life and have many nice moments together. 
 
My family and friends describe me as I kind, funny, open-minded and adventurous. Despite my young age, I have always been independent and determined, which is why I think staying away from home will not pose  any difficulty for me. I have already travelled abroad, away from my family and did not feel homesick.

I also know that I will really like studying there, and educating myself in different ways. Make new friends, which who share my daily day at school and doing different activities together. I have always enjoy challenges so I think this experience will help me to grow as a person, solve my own problems away  from my family and have a very good experience with my US family which I will remember for the many years. I hope to be able to meet you soon and start sharing good moments together!
