Dear Host Family,
My name is Florentine, I’m 15 years old(at the time I wrote this), and I can’t wait to meet you and experience your country. I would describe myself as a very open-minded, humorous, and respectful person who’s always up for a good laugh, but who also knows when it’s time to be serious and polite. I enjoy getting to know new people and sharing moments of fun with them, but I also value treating everyone with kindness and respect to create a positive atmosphere.
In my free time, I love baking – I often try out new recipes to surprise my family and friends with delicious cakes and cookies. I would love if I could cook and show you typical german dishes. I’ve also been a member of a swimming club since I was six years old.I love swimming or jumping into a big pool. It's just great fun and very refreshing. If possible, I would like to continue swimming during my time abroad. Besides that, I spend a lot of time with my friends, and we enjoy doing fun activities together. I really cherish the time I spend with people who are important to me.
I help out with certain household tasks. I usually empty the dishwasher and regularly take care of hanging up and folding the washing. I tidy and clean my room independently. But I would definitely have no problem taking on other tasks in the household.
Family plays a big role in my life. I have two wonderful sisters, one older and one younger, and I get along very well with both of them. I’m grateful to always have someone to turn to. We support each other and love spending time together. I’m also very close with my grandparents, whom I visit regularly. It’s always nice to learn from them and enjoy their company.I also have a lot of aunts and uncles and therefore lots of cousins.I have a very good relationship with my one cousin as she's my age and is therefore like a friend to me.
I'm looking forward to getting to know my host family. I am excited about the new people, characters and influences. I hope that I will find a second home in my host family. I am open to all family constellations as I always want to experience new things.
I had two rabbits as pets for about eight years and the dog as a pet for about three years.I would therefore also feel comfortable in a host family with pets, as I am very good with them and would also be happy to look after them. But of course it is not a must, and I would also feel comfortable in a host family without pets.
As for my goals, I’m still open to many possibilities. One thing I know for sure is that I want to do what brings me joy and fulfillment. One of my biggest dreams is to travel the world and experience as many different cultures as possible. I believe that this exchange year is the perfect first step towards that dream. During my time abroad, I hope to gain many new experiences, immerse myself in a new culture, make new friends, and, of course, improve my language skills. I also dreamed of experiencing typical American every day life and school life since I was a a child and saw these typical American movies. I’m especially excited about becoming part of a new family and perhaps finding a second home.
On a typical school day for me, i get up at around 7 in the morning, have a quick chat with my family, get ready and then go to school with my best friend. At school I usually have 7 hours of lessons and during the break I laugh a lot with my friends. When I get back home, I usually take a short break and then I either do my schoolwork, go to training or do something with my family. But sometimes I also need some time to relax. I usually sleep in at the weekend and then have breakfast with my family. I often go to flea markets or into the city centre with my friends. I also often go to the football stadium with my father as we are big football fans.
I’m looking forward to everything the upcoming months have in store, and I can’t wait to create many wonderful memories with you. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity – I will truly cherish the time we spend together.
Best regards,
Florentine :)
