Dear future host family,
As we haven’t met so far, I wanted to introduce myself to you and give you an impression of me and my life in Germany.

My name is Jette and I’m 15 years old. I would describe myself is caring, humorous, creative, and adaptable. I am also rather extroverted, open-minded and curious about the world.
I am very passionate about sports: I used to do competitive gymnastics for nine years, cheerleading for one and a half years and I recently started going to the gym two or three times a week. I’m also really interested in playing guitar, singing and music in general. Some of my favorite artists are Frank Ocean, the Smiths, Lana Del Rey and many more.

I grew up with my Mom, who works as a director of a Teaching Service at the local University, my Dad, who works as a Physiotherapist and my brother. We live in a smaller city in Northern Germany, with access to the countryside, for which I am very grateful because it gave me the opportunity to join girl-scouts at an early age. By now, I have my own weekly group with 10 to 13 year olds.
To raise my pocket money, I do babysitting and cat sitting. Even though I don’t have pets at home I love them, especially cats and dogs.
I try to help my parents whenever I can by cleaning the dishwasher, vacuuming the house, helping in the kitchen by cooking fancy meals, as well as assisting with the laundry.

I love to spend my spare time with friends. They are very important to me because we share many great memories, since we have the same hobbies and even spend holidays together. At home we go to the movies or shopping and on the weekends we often do sleepovers where we sometimes cook fancy recipes. In summer, we love to swim in the nearby river and have a picnic.
Doing things with my family is just as important to me. We’ve always been going on family vacation at least once a year to foreign countries as Egypt, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and Croatia. In everyday life we have meals together as often as possible. Since I can remember, I’ve been playing board games with my grandparents. I would love to show you a few of them and teach them to you.

Currently, I attend the 10th grade at a grammar school. My favorite subjects in school are history, politics and English. I like history and politics because I would like to know as much as possible about the world around me. Besides English I have been learning Spanish for four years. Furthermore, I think about attending college one day. I thought about studying psychology but I’m still open to other things. I also consider studying abroad. We will see!

The things that excite me the most about this experience overseas are the chance to get to know the “American way of life” , to improve my English and of course to meet new people. Would you like to be one of them?
