My name is Izaro and I am 15 years old. I live in a town in the north of Spain. I live with my mother, my father and my sister with whom I have a very good relationship and we enjoy doing family activities, like going out to eat, going to the cinema... I love to be with my sister and make plans together like shopping or playing volleyball and basketball. We really like to play with our dogs and my moms uncles cats who I will miss a lot. My family is very important, I like to be with my little cousins and play with them, I also love to be with my uncle, we have a lot of fun together and with my grandparents those who I love. It will be difficult to be far away from them but I ‘m sure I will be very happy with my host family and that we are all going to pass the best year of our lives.

I always loved American culture and I think going alone to another country, to speak another language, with a new family you meet from 0 is a very special experience. I think you should be very glad if you have that opportunity because not everybody has the choice of this incredible experience.

I have always been a very smiley girl who loves to try new things and to visit places I have never been. I really enjoy painting while I sing or listen to music. I sing in two of my town choirs where I have a lot of friends. This year I started to play volleyball with one of my closest friends and we sometimes go swimming after the training. I also play a Basque instrument called “Pandero” which is similar to a tambourine and I play it in some of the festivals or special days of my town. In my free time, apart from doing the activities that I mentioned before, I like to be with my friend group. We like going for a walk, to the city or just to be somewhere speaking and to have fun.

I still don't know what I want to do in the future but after my exchange I would like to stay in the school where I am actually studying and after that, go to university to work in what I like the most. The only thing I know is that I want to be happy in whatever I do, accompanied by people who I know really love and care about me and who I can trust.

I am a person who likes to learn new things, so I hope to learn a lot of things about the culture and traditions of the USA and of the town where I will be doing my exchange year. At the same time, I want to learn to be a little more independent and to do things by myself. I also hope to make a lot of friends and that they will not disappear at the end of the school year and we can continue having contact. I hope that my host family will also become a fundamental part of my life that I will never forget them but I certainly know we will be very close and that will be easy.
