Dear host family,

My name is Izaro, I’m 14 years old and I’m from the north of Spain. I’m writing this letter because I have always dreamed of participating in an exchange program and I would absolutely love living with a host family and sharing who I am, and create unforgettable experiences.

I could mention that I’m a respectful, friendly and adaptable person, with a lot of desire to learn.

 My family and friends usually describe me as an enthusiastic person, and somebody who is very easy to approach. I always try to help, and I think that I have a positive attitude to most situations.

 I have a very close family and I share many moments with them. I live in an apartment, near my grandparents house, so I visit them regularly. I get along so well with my  little brother, when he needs help with his homework, I'm happy to help him.

I go to my town school, which is 10 minutes walking from my home. My group of friends also stay with me in the same class. We are a group of 15 girlfriends. We also make plans together on weekends, such as going to the mall, to the cinema or even to the beach, which is 20 minutes from my house by train. As I live in a city that is surrounded by mountains, I go hiking every Sunday with my family. I love spending time with them.

 I also think I’m able to live far from my home, thanks to my independent personality.

I come from a united family, and since I was little they have taught me the importance of collaboration. At home I’ve always helped with homeworks, for example, helping to prepare dinner or taking care of my younger brother.

I am a welcoming person, so I would integrate in your family and respect your customs.

 I would like to improve speaking your language, as I have been learning English since I was 5 years old.

I want to explore your culture, including your traditions such asThanksgiving. I like to see how this celebration makes families stay together, and I would appreciate to be part of that.

 I consider myself a highly motivated person with many ambitions. Some of my hobbies are reading, listening to music, hanging out with my friends, cooking and doing different sports, such as handball, surfing and skiing, but I wouldn’t mind trying other types of sports, cause I know I would like it.

I would be excited to share some of these activities with you. It would be wonderful if you could share your hobbies with me too.

I believe that, living with a local family is the best way of knowing the USA culture as well.
