My name is Emily, and I am very excited about the opportunity to become part of your family and school community. To get to know me better I would like to introduce myself and show you what I hope to achieve during my stay.

My family and I live in a small town in Germany. Apart from my parents I have two sisters whom I have a very close relationship with. I really enjoy doing outdoor activities, going on trips, playing games or just having deep conversations with everyone. This means family and sticking together are very important to me. I also had a grandfather who taught me how to play the flute and helped raising me, he sadly passed away last year. Other than that, my extended family doesn’t live nearby so my relationships with them are not as close.

In my free time, I love dancing ballet, which I have been doing since I was three years old. When I was five, I started doing tap dance and modern dance as well. But ballet clearly is my passion, it allows me to express myself in a creative way and helps me stay active. Every two years my ballet company is doing a performance, where we tell stories through dancing. I am really excited for this year’s show “Wizard of Oz” because my dance teacher selected me for the lead role.

In addition to my own ballet training, I assist at my dance school by helping the teachers and younger students during their lessons. This experience has taught me responsibility, patience and the joy of sharing my passion for dance with others.

As you can see, doing sports is something I really enjoy sharing. Especially with my family or friends, for example I sometimes go for a run or a bike tour with my family or play volleyball with my friends.

Additionally, I enjoy playing the piano, as it allows me to relax and express my creativity through music. I have been playing the piano since I was five years old. Learning new pieces and challenging myself to improve my skills is also something I enjoy.

Furthermore, I love reading and one of my favorite authors is Ana Huang. She knows how to create emotional depth, making the stories inspiring and fascinating to me, not only due to her ability for showing and making various perspectives understandable. In general, is reading more than a hobby to me, it helps me relax and sparks my imagination.

At school, I am a part of the orchestra, where I play the violin. Being involved in music has taught me how to work in teams, especially when preparing for performances.

I am also a sports assistant, which means helping to organize sport activities. It also includes playing sport games with students from grade five to seven during the lunch break from time to time. This has allowed me to develop leadership skills and foster a sense of community.

All of the above has taught me how to be an organized person, who can manage their time effectively and quickly adapt to new social situations.

My goals in life are to grow as a person, learn about different cultures and make meaningful connections with people from around the world. I am not one to have my future all planned out already. I want to experience as much as I can to help me make important and final decisions is life.

And that’s exactly what I am looking for during my stay abroad. I am hoping to learn a bit more about myself, to improve my English skills and get an understanding of the American culture. I am looking forward to becoming a part of your family and school community!

I love bringing a positive attitude and humor to the people around me, as I believe laughter makes every situation easier and more enjoyable.

I hope to make the most of my time in America and I want to participate in clubs and afternoon activities, because it really is different from what we have in Germany.

I would describe myself as an open-minded and curios person who loves exploring new things. Although I might come across a little shy at first, I quickly open up and enjoy sharing my thoughts and experiences. I am excited to create unforgettable memories together.

Thank you for welcoming me into your home and school. I am truly excited about this opportunity and looking forward to meeting you soon.

Best regards,

Emily
