Dear Future host Family,

At this point, I would like to thank you for the fact that we will soon be able to create a lot of memories together and that you will make this cultural exchange possible.

Now I would like to introduce myself briefly and describe my life in Germany a bit, so that you get to know me a little better. My name is Finja and right now I am 15 years old,
but when I will visit the US, I will be 16 years old. I live with my family, consisting of my little sister and my parents, in a small village.

Luckily, I have a very good relationship with all my family members and we try to spend a lot of time together. I really like it here, because of the great people around me and my hobbies. One of them is weekly swim training together with my best friend, because we are both lifeguards. During summer, we often look after people in our local pool. Most of my other friends live in the next nearby city, where I also attend school. We often meet there and do something together, but I also have hobbies that I enjoy alone. For example, drawing or painting. I really like being creative, but I am also passionate about reading, particularly novels and fantasy books. Additionally, I try to exercise regularly through jogging or skating.

I am already so happy and excited thinking about spending one year in another country. This was my dream from a young age, as I love visiting other countries and places. I am not sure when exactly the wish to spend a year abroad came up, but my parents always supported me in this decision. But to really plan an exchange year was only something I dreamed about. However, when we visited the USA in the last autumn holidays, I instantly knew that I wanted to return for a longer stay. Now that my dream is about to come to reality, I am incredibly happy and grateful.

I am looking forward to so many things I want to experience when visiting America. I would like to learn more about the culture, try new foods, and learning how to cook them. I also want to make new friends and explore new hobbies. I am very interested in getting to know and enjoying the new everyday life at high school. I hope that I will have many unforgettable experiences and that I can continue to grow and develop as a person. I think this year will have a very big influence on my life and personality. I hope we will create wonderful memories and have a lot of fun together.

I hope that I can bring you my culture and country also a little bit closer, perhaps by cooking my favorite German dish with you or teaching you a few words in my mother tongue. I am really looking forward to becoming a part of your family and hope that I can find a second home with you. Thank you for giving me this amazing opportunity.
