Dear future host family,

First of all, thank you for your attention and hospitality. Thank you for hosting me for ten months and let me be a part of your family.

My name is Nikole and I’m a Spanish 14 to 15 years old girl. I live with my parents and brothers in a small town in the Basque Country more specifically.  I have a dog too, her name is Ur and she is 3 years old. I’m a creative, calm, hardworking, active, talkative and funny person; as well as a person who really loves to be with family and friends and to give them a lot of importance. Therefore, I would be very happy to do family activities during my stay in the United States, because I look forward to going out with my host-family or friends and doing different pastimes and plans.

Right now I am taking Grade 9, so next year I will be in my 10th Grade. My favorite subjects are History, English, Spanish, Basque and PE. I especially find it really interesting to learn facts that happened in the past. I speak Spanish, English and Basque fluently, and I have also been learning French for the last 3 years.

In my freetime I really like to cook with my family. I would love to cook Spanish meals for you and maybe you could show me some American foods. I also love doing sports because it makes me forget about everything and I also think is a very good way to make new friends. During my life, I have done a lot of sports; for example, rhythmic gymnastics that I did since I was six years old but last year I left gymnastics for athletics to try a new sport. Now, I have athletics training four hours a week and on the weekends I usually have competitions. Other sports that I also like but don’t practice so much are surfing and skiing since I like the beach and the snow. Apart from that I also like dancing and I have dance lessons once a week. The kind of dancing that I practice is “Euskal dantza" which is a traditional dance from where I come from, the Basque country. Last, I am also really into music. I have played cello since I was six years old and I am still doing it. When I play cello I feel very calm. I have been several times in the Basque Country’s orchestra which is not very easy to get into but I got it.

If there is a possibility, I would like to join the athletics team, but I also want to get to know more sports that I have never tried before, for example soccer, basketball… although my dream is to be a cheerleader.

Another thing I want to do is to learn about American culture; like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the way of life from there.

I am looking forward to enjoying my experience in the United States.

Thank you for everything!

Sincerely,

Nikole
