Dear future host family!

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. My name is Nelly. I am 15 years old and I live in Germany. When my exchange year begins, I will be 16.

I would describe myself as emphatic, creative and open-minded. My great passion is travelling! I love experiencing new places and cultures. This year I have already visited Paris, Fuerteventura (which is a Canary Island) and Bournemouth in the UK. In Bournemouth, I took part in an international project and also lived there for 10 days with a host family.

I also made some great experiences there. My highlights were our city trips to London and Salisbury. With my host parents and my two host siblings I got on very well and we had an unforgettable time together, for which I am very grateful.

This is one of the many reasons why I decided to spend a whole year abroad in the US! The US is a country, that has always fascinated me and I am incredibly grateful to have this
opportunity. Especially the American lifestyle and the diversity of the country is something that really interests me and beside that, I am very excited to try the typical American food. 
I am really looking forward to making new friends, discovering this amazing country and being welcomed into a great host family!

In Germany I live with my parents, whom I love very much! We love going on excursions together, as well as having a relaxing film night at home. I enjoy going into town with my friends, where we like to visit cute cafes. At school we have lots of fun learning new things together and spend our lunch breaks outside in the schoolyard. Moreover, we share many hobbies.

Some of my hobbies are baking, dancing and photography. I have also recently started writing my own stories and in general, creativity is my passion! To keep fit I like to jog and meanwhile I listen to my favorite podcast or music. Additionally, I often take part in sports competitions as a part of my school’s athletics and sports team. At our last competition we took first place at city level and fourth at state level.

Furthermore, learning languages has become a little passion of mine. I speak German and English, am learning French and Italian and later I would like to start learning Spanish. It is also important for me to mention that I do not smoke and do not consume alcohol or drugs. I pay attention to a well-groomed appearance and dress appropriately for certain occasions. I am always polite, cooperative and honest!

I hope I have been able to give you a good insight into my life and I am looking forward to being part of your family in the US soon, experiencing everyday life in America with you and having a great time together!
