Dear Future Host Family,

Greetings from Germany! I hope this letter finds you well! First of all, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me into your home. I cannot express how excited and grateful I am to have the opportunity to spend a year with you in the United States.

So, who exactly is this mysterious German teenager moving into your home? Well, I am Annick, 15 years old, and I live with my mom and my dad. We have a close-knit family, and Juni, our dog is truly the heart of our home with her playful energy.

In my free time, I love playing tennis, riding horses, swimming, and skiing. Cooking is also one of my passions - I enjoy trying out new recipes from all over the world and making meals for my family and friends. I am also into art and theater, whether it is painting or watching a play, anything creative excites me. Recently, I designed and knitted my first own dirndl. When I am with my friends, we love spending time outdoors, whether it is having a picnic by the lake, swimming, or just exploring the city and trying out new restaurants.

I would say I am open-minded, outgoing, reliable, and I like a good laugh. I am all about discovering new things, meeting people from different walks of life. I am really looking forward to being part of your family, learning from you, and maybe explaining you a thing or two about the German way of doing things (yes, we really do eat a lot of bread!).

So, why trade schnitzel for hot dogs and spend a year across the Atlantic? The idea of going abroad has been a dream of mine for quite some time. We have friends who have lived abroad, and their stories always fascinated me. Hearing about their experiences made me curious about life in another country, and I have always been especially drawn to the United States. We have visited a few times on vacation, and I fell in love with the culture, the people, and the diversity of the country.

What excites me the most about this adventure is the chance to truly immerse myself in a new culture and experience everyday life in America. I am looking forward to making new friends, discovering new hobbies, and of course, becoming part of your family. I am open to everything and eager to learn and grow from this experience. Above all, what matters most to me is finding a loving host family where we can share mutual respect and build a lifelong friendship.

Thank you again for giving me this incredible opportunity. I am counting down the days until I get to meet you all in person. And who knows? Maybe one day I will get to show you around Germany and introduce you to my world!

Looking forward to our year together!
Warm regards,

Annick
