Exchange Student Finder |
Dear host Family,
my name is Abigail and I am fifteen years old. I live in a small Village. I live together with my parents and my cat in our house. I go to the school wich is about fifteen minutes by schoolbus away from my home and I am in the 10th grade. I want to do my exchange year in the 11th class, because I want to do my A levels, also called Abitur in Germany. I want to have the occupational freedom in the future with my Abitur.
In my freetime I really prefer to do activities with people. I´ve been playing soccer for twelve years now in two different teams. I also train a minikicker soccer club and I am a soccer referee. I volunteer in district youth participation and try to solve problems in the district and implement new ideas in the close steering group. I think many more people should be able to express their opinion and their opinion should be respected. No matter what gender they are, or which nationality they have.
I am really interested in languages wich is why I can speak english, spanish and of course german. I am looking forward to learn more languages, because the more languages people speak, the less problems we got with communication. I think this is why l am so fascinated by them. Pretty much every country has its own language and there are so many of them. Another hobby of mine is acting. I have been acting in an acting company for seven years. I have done several castings online and in person. I have fun with putting myself in the shoes of the acting roles and roleplay.
I recently found interest in photography and I like to just experiment with different features of my camera. My brother and I often drive into the woods and try to catch nice pictures of the wild animals and the landscapes. Since I am going on a walk everyday, I also bring my camera with me and look for nice spots to take pictures. But I also like playing and learning on my guitar. I always adored singing to any song and I still do sing a LOT. When I put those two things together, I always feel like a real musician.
Meeting up with friends is often a bit difficult because I am doing a lot of voluntary work, but somehow I always manage to find a solution and meet up with them. Off from activities in my freetime, I definitely care about my grades and my image. And thats why I am also sometimes studying.
My Family is a very big patchwork Family, so we all have complicated connections to explain. Eventough some family members live about three Hours away, our relationship is very good. One of my brothers is married. The other family members live in another state. We normally see them only at special occassions like christmas, easter, school holidays or at long weekends. But when they come, we all have a lot of fun together.
My grandfather died nearly three years ago, so my grandmother lives alone. Me and my parents always help my grandmother in her household and every sunday we pick her up, for staying at our house that day. When my grandfather was still living, my mother and I took special care of him, especially in everything that corresponded to human dignity. He also was not able to live alone with my grandma so we had a person from poland that lived at their house, and took care of my grandparents. It was their job, the person changed every three months and we talked in english and german with them.
This stipendium means a lot to me because it helps me with getting a bigger horizon, making new memories, exploring different places and learning a lot about the culture in America. When I am getting to the bilingual country, the USA I will finally have the chance to use my skills in the best way possible. I would like to give people my knowledge about Germany. Its not only that I will learn new things, its also me that can teach something about my country. I guess this is what makes the stipendium special. The exchange of people from two completely different habits.
Another important point for the exchange year is the tought of meeting new people and making new friends. I am exited for new personalities and new storys. I think I would quickly find the connection because I am a person that isin´t afraid of talking to people. I am trying to find the balance between me and my counterpart to have a harmonious life together. I am an empathic, commited and funny person and I always seem to find a way in keeping myself organized. I want to explore a lot of the world and this Stipendium makes it more possible to reach my lifegoal, and thats why I am so greatful for that. My life goal is happiness and a lot of knowledge that I can teach many people. I want to have a good job, nice friends, a lovely family and I want to be able to say, that I saw nearly every place in this world.
My motto of live is:
If you change the way you look at people, people will change. Memories and captured images are unforgettable, not because of the story they tell, but because of the emotions they evoke every time they come to mind and only then we appreciate their value.
After the long text about myself and my life I want to tell you that I am looking forward to meet you.I would really like to have a small insight in your life and I hope for a really good time with you. I am going abroad with full conviction, and giving up is not an option for me. :)
