Dear Host Family,
thank you so much for reading this letter! My name is M. and I’am 16 years old and i am from a small town in Italy. I can't wait to spend one year abroad, attending a different school than mine in Italy and I'm really excited about knowing new fantastic people. I hope this letter gives you a good thought about myself, my character and about my interests.
I would describe myself as a friendly, patient and curious person. I enjoy meeting and knowing new people and discovering new things and places. I think my friends would tell that I’m a good listener and that I love talking to people. I always try to be as helpful as possible. I think I'm responsible too. It is really important in my opinion to be respectful and kind, especially because you’re staying in somebody else’s home. My parents say that I am a quiet and sweet girl and that I love respecting the rules, I don't like situations where there is a lot of confusion. They say that I am a reliable and sincere girl too, they trust me. In my opinion, this is really important.
I really hope to learn your culture and the language better and I would love to become an actual part of your daily life.
In Italy, at home, I live with my parents, and with my younger brother. I think we are very close as a family, we all love each other. We like to spend time together: we go to watch my brother playing soccer; we go to eat together at the restaurant; me, my brother and my mom go skiing together in winter; sometimes we also go outside for a walk.
my brother and I have separate rooms, I have mine and he has his. They aren't so big, but there is everything we need. I have a good relationship with my parents, they are always supportive to me and kind. They supported my big dream of studying abroad, I love them.
I attend the linguist high school and i love it! I have good grades because I enjoy going to school, it is interesting know new things and informations. My favourite subjects are English and German. I like learning about the different languages and cultures. I’m curious and I sometimes ask questions to teachers so I can have more details about the arguments. I hope to improve my English while I’m with you, because I hope that speak it and listen it every day every day will help me become fluent.
When I'm not in school, I play volleyball in a local team, I play it since I was 11 years old. I have a lot of fun practicing it. I like the sports where there is teamwork, in fact I also love soccer. Since I was a kid, my dad and I have always watched soccer's matches, especially those of a famous soccer team in Europe. I enjoy watching tennis and Formula One too. I also like listening to music, hanging out with my friends and going out with my dog. Another thing that I like is watching films and TV series.
My typical day is very simple. I wake up, I eat breakfast and then I go to school. At about 2.45 p.m I come home, I have lunch and take a short break. After that, I do my homework and study. At 6 p.m, I prepare to go to volleyball training. When it's over, I come back, I eat with my family, take a shower and go to sleep.
I’m so happy about this experience and I can't wait. Thank you again for reading my letter.
Cheers, M.
