Greetings, my name is Alejandro, I’m 14 years old and at the moment I’m in the 9th year of secondary school.
In our family we are 4 members, my parents, my little brother and me. We all love each other and we are a very close family. I usually have lunch at my grandparent’s house with my 3 cousins and I love playing with them and also with my brother. My elder cousin is the one I prefer playing and talking with, we spend hours talking and laughing. My other two cousins are more childish and they prefer playing with my brother since they have closer ages.
I’m the big brother, which means I always help my little brother whenever he needs. I help him study, I play with him and we spend a lot of time together at home.
My father is European but my mother is from Taiwan, so every summer we go visit my grandparents in Taiwan. During the year we talk to them using Skype or Whatsapp every week, but obviously they always love when we visit. I stay there with my mother and my brother for 6 weeks, and my father most years stays with us just for a week or two because he has to come back to work. During our time in Taiwan we visit other members of our family and friends of my mom that live there. I like it a lot, but is very hot and humid during the summer since it is a tropical island.
I practice karate since I was 5 years old as a hobby, and right now I’m black belt. I have participated in many local competitions and I’ve got chosen twice to form part of our karate federation to participate in the national championship. I got into karate through my big cousin, who had a dojo very near to his house and the teacher was an old friend of our grandparents.
When I was younger I took a couple of years of piano but nothing really serious so I didn’t continue. I also have interest in robotics, computers and video games. Regarding languages, I obviously speak my own country’s language, English and also a little of French that I started to learn two years ago at my current school. I also speak Chinese because of my mother, not perfectly but good enough to get by.
When I meet my friends, we usually play many sports or games ,but mostly soccer or basketball since they are the most popular sports here. Talking about my friends, this year I’m getting used to hang out with them most of Saturdays after finishing my homework and studying. We go to the park, or to the center, and we always take a ball to play whatever any time at any place.
I’m quite social and I get along very well with most people at my high school, but I only hang out with six or seven of them which are my closest friends. I love spending time with them.
In my free time, if I don’t hang out I play video games, which I love. I’ve been playing them since my big cousin introduced them to me when I was 6. Since then I’ve been playing them, sometimes with my friends, or even alone. I like adventure games or fighting games. My uncle gave me a PlayStation 5 for my birthday when I was 12 and since then I started playing more complex games. I also try to read everyday a little bit.
I want to go to the USA to learn more English, learn about their culture, but also live an experience once in a lifetime and become more independent. I can’t wait getting there, I heard so many good things about people who have spent a year there and I’m very excited.
