Dear future host family,

First of all I want to thank you for giving me the chance to make my biggest dream come true. I'm very happy to get to know the culture and the school in the U.S. It is admirable that you give young people like me the opportunity to see the world. I am an open and sociable person who likes to spend time with other people.

My name is Ole and I live in a small town in Germany. At the moment I am 14 years old and I am in the 9th grade in the German school system. I go to a school that specializes in music and therefore I also sing in a choir and play the piano. Apart from all these musical things, I'm also very interested in sports and fashion. For example, I always follow soccer in Germany with great enthusiasm and I also like to play soccer with friends in my free time. I often play video games with my friends and when the weather is good we meet up outside and go for a swim.

Now a few things about my family. My parents are divorced so I live with my mother and stepfather in a house on the outskirts of the city. My sister is not living in our house. She lives in her own apartment with her boyfriend. Not to forget my two rabbits that are also living with us. My father lives in the city center and I visit him regularly.

In October 2022, I went to New York for the first time with my mother and stepfather. I was very impressed of the USA because everything was so different from Germany. Huge cars, huge bags of chips - I didn't know all that before, and I thought it was very cool. This vacation sparked my interesting an exchange, as I really wanted to learn more about the language, the culture and the country. In February 2024 I went on a second vacation to America, to Washington D.C. after this trip I was sure that I wanted to spend a year abroad.

I am most looking forward to making new friends and spending time with them and my host family. I also want to gain lots of new experiences and get to know life in the USA for myself. I would also like to show you some of my German culture. For example, I could cook a typical German dish for you. Would you like to try it?

I also want to try out lots of new things, like getting involved in more sporting activities for example

The most important thing for me is to make lots of memories and spend time with people who are important to me. Besides these things, I definitely want to improve my English.

So with all of these hopes and ambitions in my mind, I'm looking forward to meeting you!

With best regards

Ole
