Dear future host family,
first, I wanted to thank you for considering me a part of your family during my stay in the U.S. It has long been my dream to live and experience life in the U.S., and thanks to kind people like you, this dream is now coming true.
My name is Amina, and I would love to tell you a little about myself. I am 15 years old and live in Germany. I have always been passionate about exploring new cultures and I love the excitement of travelling. I have been lucky to visit many different places such as Turkey, Spain, and France, where I enjoyed learning about their focal traditions and tried unique foods. Each experience has deepened my appreciation for diverse cultures. But I have never been to America before, and I am excited about the chance to experience your culture up close.
In Germany, I like to spend time by going out with my friends or doing sports like Tennis or Volleyball. But I also enjoy spending time indoors by, for example, baking or drawing. One thing I'm known for back home is my cheesecakes, and I’d love to make one for you during my stay. I am also really excited to try traditional American desserts, like pumpkin pie, and maybe even learn how to make one!
l am interested in doing an exchange year began after seeing a presentation at school about it. This really got me thinking, so I spent a lot of time researching online and eventually realized that this was the perfect thing for me. The idea of living the „teenage dream" in a typically American High school, with American football, cheerleading, etc. excites me. That’s why I am really great full to my parents for supporting this dream, as not everyone has the chance to experience a year in the U.S.
While I am there, I can’t wait to dive into American culture. I always wonder if it is really like in the movies. How do you celebrate holidays? Do you realty decorate so much for Christmas and Halloween? What is Thanksgiving or St. Patrick’s Day like? While we learned about American traditions in class, experiencing them firsthand will be incredible. I am also interested in seeing the diversity of American nature and cities, there's so much I’d love to explore.
I am also looking forward to making new friends, trying new activities like cheerleading, and visiting iconic American spots like Crumble, Target and 7- Eleven. I'd love to share some of the German traditions with you too, like cooking traditional meals or teaching you some German words. It would be fun to exchange cultural traditions.
I am thrilled about the opportunity to spend time with you and experience adventures the adventurer that await. My curiosity and love for exploration makes America the perfect place for me, and I am excited to share the journey with you. I look forward to getting to know each of you better and enjoying some fun activities together.
Yours Sincerely,
Amina
