Dear Host Family,
My name is Annabella, but they also call me Bella. I am from Germany. I have a little sister.
I play the piano since I’ve been 6. Even though my favorite play is Snow from Fabrizio Paterlini, I adore the piano artist Ludovico Einaudi. I also love playing pop songs from Adele or other singers.
I did gymnastics for 8 years, two times a week. It all started because my mom showed me a clip of a professional gymnast and I wanted to do the same things. First, I started by trying on our trampoline, but that didn’t go so well, then my mom registered me on a club. After a few years I went to my first competition. It all went like I wanted it to, till I found my new passion in running. My parents always wanted me to go more outside and do a perseverance sport. I never liked it till I injured my foot and had to start of slow. So, I went running because we have a big park next to us. When I go for a run it hleps me clear my head from my thoughts and it makes me feel happier and then I can sleep better.
In my free time I go out with my friends for dinner, go for a walk, go to the cinema, ice skating, shopping or read/ watch something. In summer I often go on inline skating nights (it’s like skating with 5000 people through the city) with my dad, often a friend of mine comes too. During the drive you can watch the sunset. I also go to a lake or a brook to go swimming with my friends. That’s probably the best part of summer for me, because after a long exhausting school day it’s really calming.
In summer vacation I love going to the sea. We often rent a sailboat and explore different cities by sailing to new destinations, but we also sometimes stay in at anker in a bay. Then in the following morning, you only have to put on a swimsuit and jump into the water and do a morning swim. Though my family loves the sea they also love hiking in the mountains. That’s how we ended up doing an alps crossing on foot last summer. I must say I really love the mountains also going hiking there it’s like going for a run. Nevertheless, I prefer the mountains in winter to go skiing. I’ve been skiing since I’ve been 4 years old.
If you haven’t noticed yet, I am a person that loves going out. No matter if for sports or “fun“. I am also tutoring 2 kids from 6th grade in math and with my friends we are mentoring a class for two years from 5th to 6th grade, like doing excursions, making movies, playing games and making their first two years of secondary school unforgettable. Also, at home I’m often taking care of my little sister and help cleaning the dishes. So, I’m a very supporting person. Since I’ve been a kid, I’ve always been very kind. As my mom says, I have always smiled at people and greeted them (still doing it). In addition, I love baking and cooking. I’ve baked my cake for my 15th birthday by myself. It was two story and I was very proud of myself. My specialty in cooking is probably my chicken quesadilla. I’d be happy to bake you a cake and have a quesadilla dinner with you.
I’d also love to show you some typical german movies from my childhood for example Bibi & Tina, it’s a horse movie series, also tell you a lot about Germany, how it is to live there and show you some card games I always play with my family and friends.
I’d love to get to know the way you live in the US, by helping you around the house and help buying the groceries.
I am looking forward to becoming part of your family and experiencing my time in the US with you. Thank you for having me!
Yours Bella
