Dear host family,

My name is Hugo. I am 15 years old and I live in the north of Spain (Basque country).

I live with my parents and I have a older brother who lives in another city for work. My dad was an engineer, but he is retired now, and my mom is a biologist but now is studying Phyton. And we live downtown in a small city located in the north of Spain (Basque country).

I am writing this letter to let you know a little about how I am, my likes and my dreams, since I hope to live with you for an academic year. I think writing this letter will help me to be a better person and think about the future. When I was 9 years old, my older brother went to the USA to study an academic year in the USA, he told me about his good experience and since then I dream of living it too.

I am a happy boy, curious, sportman and wanting to learn. I like to meet new people and discover different ways of living. I try to be optimistic and find the good side of the things. I like to learn things and play sports. Now, I enjoy life a lot because I am with the people that I want to be with.

My biggest hobbie is playing basketball at school or in the park next to my house and watching the NBA games or playing the videogame, when there is an early game I always watch it. Other hobbies are playing soccer with my friends, swim in the pool of my city and in my school, ride a bike with my father in summer and play board games after family meals or with my friends. All these things help me to be happy and to be as I am.

My goals during this year in USA are live the american experience, taste food, participate in family activities and learn things that I could not experience in my country. Apart from improving my english, I think this experience will help me to be more independent and sure of myself. This year of exchange in the USA is going to help me in the future, because I am going to learn a lot  of english and that is important because is the most spoken language in the world and I could live anywhere in the world knowing how to speak english.

When I am older I would like to study journalism because I always liked it because I could be on TV and I would find out things before the others and I think it is very interesting. Also, I would like to be a proffesional basketball player or swimmer because is what I practice usually and is what I have more posibilities to obtain.

To end, is important to know that I am willing to adapt to the house rules and help in what I can.
