Hello! My name is Lur, and I’m a 15 year old girl who is very excited about the opportunity to spend a year as an exchange student in the USA. For this, I’m going to tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born in Spain and I have lived there with my family ever since, which includes my parents and three older siblings.  I’m the youngest of the family. Both my siblings have already experienced exchange years in the USA, which inspires me to do it also. Apart from that, on my mother’s side, I'm also very close to my grandparents, my three cousins and my aunt and uncle. From my father's side, I have a very good relationship with my two aunts.

If I have to describe my personality, I would say that at first I’m a little bit shy, but when I take confidence I become much more outgoing and funny. I always try to make everyone laugh and feel good. I also have to say that I'm a little bit stubborn.

Sports play a significant role in my life. I really enjoy table tennis and basketball, and I dedicate a lot of my time practicing both. I train for basketball twice a week with my school team, where we also have matches on the weekends. I love to play with my teammates even if we win or lose. In our city there is a professional basketball team and my friends and I love to go to support them.

On the other hand, table tennis is my passion. I train three to four days a week and I often compete in tournaments across Spain. Apart from having fun, the most important thing it gave me is the chance to travel to new cities and make friends from all over the country.

When I’m not playing sports, I enjoy spending my free time in other ways. I love hanging out with my friends and doing lots of fun things together. Watching movies and shopping for new clothes are two of my favorite pastimes. I like lots of series but I would say that my favourite one is Gossip Girl. I also enjoy listening to different genres of music, such as Olivia Rodrigo or music in Spanish. Family vacations are a big part of my life as well. We have visited some incredible places like Greece, Morocco, Italy… which have given me lots of experiences. One of my favorite family traditions is skiing in winter. We have been doing it for a long time and although I’m not a perfect skier, I love skiing with my family.

I’m applying for this program because I think that it’s a perfect experience to try new things, meet new people, get out of my comfort zone and live a completely different lifestyle. I think that it would teach me lots of things about life and it would help me to learn to be more independent. Of course I am also applying to learn more english.
