Dear potential host family,
I am very excited to embark on my student immersion in the USA and hope you will accept me into your home. You will find me to be an outgoing, sporty and an adventurous person and I feel that I am easy to talk to and get along with. I love to give everything a try at least once. I enjoy most aspects of school, especially subjects such as Physical Education, HAAS (Heath and Social Science) and English and I take great pride in my schoolwork. When I am not doing assignments or studying, I love to play sports! I currently play 3 sports: Netball, Basketball and AFL (Australian Rules Football). I also worked in the netball canteen and enjoy hanging out with friends and family.
I live with my mum, dad and my older sister, overlooking the water in a 3-story house, which is also home to a dog called Pippa and 2 cats (CC and Millie). A typical school day sees me waking up around 6am. After eating breakfast, completing any chores and getting dressed into my school uniform, my mum drives me to school. School commences at 8.35am. I have 6 classes per day, which run for 50 minutes each. During school lunch breaks (1 x 40 minute and 1 x 20 minute), I like to sit and chat to my friends or walk around the oval. At 3:10pm the bell goes signalling the end of the day. Sometimes I attend sports training but if there is nothing on, I walk about 7 minutes to meet my mum. She usually then drives my sister and I to one of our out of school sports that we play. We then come home to a meal that my dad has cooked. For the rest of the evening, I would help with chores, study, relax or sometimes watch a movie with my family.
On the weekend, if I am not away travelling playing sport, I like to hang out with friends – we often go the beach or the local dam on boats and go knee boarding or on tubes. It is a lot of fun!
If I am accepted into your home, I would be happy to help with any chores and am excited to learn about your way of life, immersing myself into your community, hobbies and family life, taking every opportunity that is given to me.
After my family and I visited the USA when I was 10, I have always wanted to return and experience the American High school life. It would be amazing to learn about American history (and I would love to learn the names of all 52 states!). It would also be exciting not to wear a school uniform every day and be able to choose my own clothes! I know some of the sports I currently play won’t be available but am intrigued to see what is on offer at my new school and in your town. Where I live, our average temperature is 22 degrees Fahrenheit so the weather could be very different to what I am used, depending on where I live! If I am living in a cold climate, experiencing a White Christmas would definitely be a bonus!
I am well adjusted to travel as my family often travels within Australia and overseas and hope this will make it easier for me to settle into your family.
I hope you will consider having me as part of your family!
Thank you very much.
Kind regards
Ally
