Exchange Student Finder |
Dear Host Family,
My name is Janna and I am a 15-year-old girl from Germany. I am writing to you with great excitement about the possibility of spending a high school year in the United States and becoming a part of your family. I look forward to experience American culture, making new friends and growing personally.
I am very interested in sports, cooking, baking, music and outdoor activities. My hobbies are roller skating and playing the clarinet. I am also part of our school orchestra. I consider myself an open-minded, curious, and friendly person who loves exploring new places and meeting new people. I believe that spending a year in the USA as an exchange student will advance me for my whole life.
Now, let me share a bit about my usual daily routine. My day typically starts at around 6:30 am. I get ready for school, have breakfast with my family, and then head to school by bike. School usually begins at 8:00 am and finishes around 1:15 pm. During school hours, I attend various classes, including math, PE, history, theatre, and French. I enjoy participating in extracurricular activities like playing the clarinet in the school orchestra, which allows me to pursue my interests and bond with fellow students.
After school, I go home for lunch and then finish my homework. Once that's done, I spend time on my hobbies or hang out with friends.
When I meet with my friends, we often play games, go shopping or we go outside. In the evenings, I often spend time with my family, either helping with the household, watching a movie, or simply chatting about our day. Before bedtime, I usually watch a movie or series or listen to music. My day ends at around 10:00 pm when I go to bed to get enough rest for the next day.
On weekends, my routine is a bit more relaxed compared to weekdays. I usually sleep a little longer and wake up around 8:00 am. After having a nice breakfast with my family, I enjoy doing sports or just relaxing a bit more. In the afternoon, I often meet up with friends. We might go shopping, watch a movie, or simply hang out at someone's house. If the weather is nice, we enjoy outdoor activities such as walking or swimming. Sometimes I also visit my grandparents and other relatives or I go on trips with my family. Evenings are usually family time. We might watch a film together or play board games. I also use this time to catch up on all the schoolwork that I didn't manage to do during the week. Overall, weekends are a perfect balance of relaxation, fun, and productivity, allowing me to recharge for the upcoming week.
I am very excited about the imagination of living with you and learning more about your lifestyle and traditions. I am looking forward to sharing my own culture with you as well. For exampIe I could prepare traditional german meal “Wiener Schnitzel” or bake a special german cake “Black Forest Cake”. I would love to take part in family activities, helping with tasks at home and making a lot of memories with you and my new friends.
I hope that we can build a lasting and meaningful connection through this high school year.
Thank you so much for considering me as a potential member of your family.
Best regards,
Janna
