Dear host family,

My name is Paul and I’m a 15 year old student from Spain who is going to do an exchange program next academic year in the USA. In this letter I'll try to explain my personality, my hobbies, my goals and more for you to get to know me and imagine what I am really like.

First of all I’ll talk about myself in general. Physically, I am tall and I’ve got short brunette hair. Talking about my personality, I’m really chatty and I like to talk and listen a lot, I mean, I like to share ideas and talk to others, but when it comes to listening to others, I like it too and I’m the kind of person who people talk to about their problems and I listen carefully and try to give advice. At first, I might seem introverted, but I gain confidence step by step and finally I am really an extrovert. I would describe myself as funny, confident usually, smart and creative.

Next I’ll talk about my family here. According to the standards here in Spain, my family is quite small, I have grandparents from my fathers side, and two uncles and aunts, as well as two older cousins. Finally my closest family are my parents and my little sister. My younger sister is really energetic and likes to do lots of sports, dance, play… We get along very well usually but we do have (I think as all siblings do) our fights and bad times.

Things that I like and my hobbies include creative things, as well as some sports. To start I like creative things such as painting with watercolors or acrylics, drawing, sometimes writing stories or imagining them… I also love pop culture and the social media, listening to music, making videos, pictures… Moreover, I like sports, mainly, the sport I love the most is swimming because my parents have introduced me to that since I was a little kid. But I am open to doing other sports and trying new activities in this exchange year. People have always told me that even though I like sports and I’m quite serious and good at them, I have a no competitive mind, and I must admit that it’s true, I’m not the best for competitions, because I’m usually chill and I don’t have that competitive nerve. In addition, I also like going for walks and hanging out with friends, going to the beach, going to concerts, travelling and visiting theme parks.

For my future, I must admit that I don’t have anything really clear yet, so, when I come back from the USA, I’ll have to choose a direction for my studies in the last year of secondary school (which in Spain is the most important year) and then for University. For now, I’ve decided to do scientific-technological studies to then do a career in architecture, interior designing, engineering… But I’m not really sure because there are so many things that I like and would like to study.

And finally, for the exchange program, my aims are to come back with a fluent English and a better accent, also to make new friends and have new experiences there, and as a travel-lover, to get to know new places and obviously a new country. I would also like to have a cultural exchange with my host family and a good friendly relationship with them.

I hope this letter has cleared your thoughts about me, at least a bit until we get to know each other. And I hope it has given you some good impressions about me too.

With appreciation,

Paul.
