I would like to start this message by saying thank you again for taking the time and
consideration of taking me in as a part of your family.

My name is Kanon, and I'm 16 years old. I'm a student at High School in Japan. I'm excited to be a part of this program, and to see how it is like to spend a year at an American high school.

I like to spend my free time drawing, listening to music, and creating something with my artistic viewpoint. A couple of my favorite classes are math, algebra, and art, but I tend to struggle with history and Japanese literature. I usually spend my time after school going to my school's English club and practicing speech and debate. I also spend a lot of time studying, especially if there's a test coming up. I also take Japanese calligraphy classes every other Monday and have experience with playing the violin for about 6 years.

As you may or may not already know, I have lived most of my life in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, for more than 10 years. I moved to the US when I was 2 years old
and moved back to Japan when I was 13 years old. As for my reason for my stay in the US, I was able to experience school life from preschool to halfway through middle school, but due to my father's job, had to return to Japan, therefore, I never knew what high school was like. I would like to take this as a chance to once again, see how it is high school is like. As for differences in lifestyle, I never knew how Americans or people of different races live in their home, with both my parents being Japanese, and most of my friends' families being Asian. I am eager to learn how your family lives, and to be sure to follow any rules you have.

After I graduate from high school, I am planning to go to a university either overseas, especially somewhere around Canada and America, or stay here in Japan. As for the subject and field of study I want to aim for, I haven't had a precise vision of what I want to do exactly, but I am most interested in the arts, editing, and being social with younger children. Some careers that I have in mind are art therapists, exhibit designers, special effect artists. Again, I'd like to explore some of these fields during my study abroad.

Thank you again for deciding to take me in as a part of your family. I am excited to see everyone, and I hope to have a wonderful time during my stay.
