Exchange Student Finder |
Dear Host Family,
First, I want to thank you for considering me as your future exchange student and for giving me the opportunity to become part of your family. Although I don’t know much about you yet, I am incredibly excited to meet you and get to know you better.
Let me take this chance to tell you a bit about myself, my family, my hobbies, and my goals.
My name is Elly, I’m 15 years old, but I will be 16 when I am with you. My friends would describe me as an open-minded, funny, and spontaneous person. Laughing is one of the greatest things you can do in life, which is why I love making people laugh. I would also say that I am a very optimistic person because I always try to make the best out of every situation.
I’ve lived in the same house my entire life with my parents, my brother, and our dog, Teo in a big City in Germany. My brother and I don’t spend that much time together, but we always support each other in everything we do. We can always count on each other. Teo, my dog, has been with us for seven years. Growing up with him has been such an important part of my life. I love my family very much—they’ve shaped who I am today. I’d describe myself as a family-oriented person.
During the week, my parents and I are often busy with work and school, so we don’t spend much time together, but on the weekends, we usually do things as a family, like going into the city, shopping, or watching a soccer game. At home, we share household chores like setting the table, cleaning our rooms, and unloading the dishwasher. Splitting these tasks actually makes them more enjoyable!
My mom is originally from Austria, so we always spend the holidays there with our extended family. Visiting them is something I always look forward to because they are a huge source of support and comfort for me.
I am currently in 10th grade, but by the time I come to you, I will be in 11th grade. My favorite subjects in school are English, history, geography, and music. I’m really curious about what school will be like in the U.S. and which subjects I’ll be able to choose.
Music is a big part of my life, especially singing. I’ve been part of my school choir for about five years now. Whether I’m in the car, at home, or with friends, I’m always singing (sometimes I think my family gets a little tired of it!). Singing in the choir has also helped me make wonderful friends.
As for sports, I love dancing. I take dance lessons three hours a week, and one of those hours is spent coaching young children. Dancing is my way of relieving stress—it helps me feel free and lets me shake off all the worries of the day. I’ve been part of my dance club for nine years, and I look forward to practice every week.
I also enjoy cooking and baking. I’d love to share some German and Austrian recipes with you and learn how to make traditional American dishes in return. Another passion of mine is fitness, especially going to the gym. It’s a great way to challenge myself and use all my energy.
Spending time with my friends is another thing I love. Each one of them has inspired me in different ways, and I’m so grateful for their presence in my life. I also love traveling—exploring new countries and learning about different cultures is one of my favorite things to do.
Music is another passion of mine. I listen to a wide range of genres and artists. My favorite artist is Taylor Swift, and I was lucky enough to attend one of her concerts in Germany. I also enjoy listening to Niall Horan, 2Pac, Gracie Abrams, and many more. Whether it’s pop, hip-hop, or musicals, I love discovering new music.
Reading is another hobby of mine—it helps me unwind. And like my whole family, I’m a big soccer fan. We regularly attend games for our favorite club, and I love the excitement and atmosphere of the stadium.
In terms of my goals, I dream of traveling to as many countries as possible and learning about different cultures around the world. I also want to build a successful career doing something I love while maintaining a fulfilling life outside of work.
I’m so excited to become part of your family and experience American traditions like Thanksgiving and Halloween. This exchange is a dream come true for me, and I can’t wait to learn about your culture, share mine with you, and create unforgettable memories together.
Thank you again for this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to meet you and start this exciting journey.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Love,
Elly
