Dear Host Family,

Before I begin to introduce and describe myself, I would like to thank you for this opportunity which is very important for me and my family. I will now try to explain how I am and how my life is where I live.

I’m Ainhoa, I am 14 years old and I was born in Belgium. When I was 5 years old we moved to Spain. Now, I live in a small town of the North of Spain. We are 4 members in my family, 5 with my dog. There is my father and he’s an international organization but he’s also a freelancer, then my mother is an employee at university, my brother is a student, my dog is called Max and it’s 3 years old, finally me and I’m also a student. Every weekend we look for a moment to be all together in family watching movies or series. We also travel a lot together, I really appreciate these moments because we create many beautiful memories.

Now I am going to tell you how is a normal weekday in my life: I wake up at 7:00 am, I dress up in my uniform and I have breakfast with my brother. At 7:50 a.m. my mother takes me to school by car (sometimes I take the school bus but in that case I get up earlier ). I start lessons at 9:00 a.m.. I have three hours before the first break, then two hours more and at 1:40 p.m. we go down to the canteen to have lunch (I can’t go out of the school for lunch, because it’s in a mountain). At 3:00 p.m. I have the last lesson and at 4:00 pm I take the school bus to return home. If it’s Monday or Wednesday I have basketball training and If it’s Thursday I have singing lessons. Then I study and I have dinner with my family.

Moreover a normal weekend day is like this: I have basketball matches every weekend, so I wake up depending on what time I have the game. I have breakfast and I dress up for the match. I play the game and after that I return home to have lunch. Next I watch some movies or series with my family and before taking the subway and dressing up to hang out with my friends I study or I do homeworks. I meet my friends at 6:00 p.m. and after that I go home by subway. I get home at 11:00 p.m., finally I have dinner with my brother and I go to bed at 11:30 p.m.

Talking about school I would say that my favorite subject is Spanish language, because the teacher explains very well and I find it very interesting. I think that my grades are good, maybe maths is more complicated for me, but everything else is good. Even if I don't really know what I will do in the future I would LOVE to study psychology in a good university and work on something related to psychology.

About my hobbies, I love sports basketball especially, also I love watching soccer games, playing volleyball (even though I have never been on a team), skiing, surfing, singing and watching series.. I really enjoy meeting new people and hanging out with my friends.

In this academic year I expect to learn new cultures, know new people, but especially leave being more open-minded, with a new mentality and an incredible lived experience influenced by people, places and the language. I’ll end this letter thanking you, I promise you’ll never ever regret choosing me and again thank you for the opportunity.

Lots of hugs and hoping to meet you very soon,

Ainhoa.
