Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Selin, I’m 16 years old, and I live in a small town in Germany with my parents and my older brother. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, which I’ve been doing for the past three months. I also love shopping for clothes and makeup with my friends. Spending time with them is really important to me, and we often go to the cinema, bowling, or just hang out together.

I listen to all kinds of music and really enjoy watching movies especially suspense films! I also love trying new foods and eating out at restaurants. My family isn’t very big, but we are very close. I spend a lot of time with my grandmother and uncle, and once a week, we all have dinner together. Family time is something we value a lot. I’d describe myself as an extroverted, friendly, and positive person. I don’t argue often, and I try to be kind and helpful to everyone around me. I also respect my parents rules because I don’t want to disappoint them. At school, I’m disciplined and ambitious because I care about doing well. I love making people laugh and enjoy talking to others. Trying new things is something I’m always excited about, whether it’s a new hobby or activity.

I want to do an exchange year because I’d like to become more independent and learn what it’s like to live without my parents. I’ve always been fascinated by the United States, especially after visiting last spring. I’d love to experience American culture, see how life there is different from Germany, and learn more about American schools.I also want to improve my English, especially my pronunciation, and I think living in the United States will help me a lot. I know this experience will be something I’ll always remember, and it will look great on my CV for the future. Meeting new people, making friends, and learning about life in another country are all things I’m really looking forward to.In the future, I hope to have a job I enjoy, start a family, and travel to many places around the world. My dream destination is Japan! So far, I’ve been lucky to travel with my family to places like Dubai, the United States, Croatia, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Turkey, which we visit often because my grandparents are Turkish.
