Dear Host Family,

My name is Janna, I am 16 years old and I live in Germany. I am looking for a warm and lovely host family who would like to welcome me in their family life and give me an insight into American culture, traditions and the "American way of life".

I live in a small house in a nice city with about 300.000 inhabitants and lots of cafes, parks and boutiques where I like to spend my free time with friends or on my own. I also love traveling, meeting new people and discovering interesting places and foreign cultures. When I'm at home, I like to do creative activities like crafting or journaling and to read books. In addition, I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, mostly romance or mystery and I love listening to music. I also play the drums and other percussion instruments in a band (but I don’t expect to continue that when I'm in the US). I love trying new things, such as new recipes when baking or cooking and exploring new places in my hometown.

In the future, I want to study law, business management or similar degree programs at university and maybe become a lawyer one day.

I have a very close relationship with my mother. Unfortunately, my father lives about 400 miles away, but we are in close contact on a regular basis. I have a good relationship with my grandparents as well who live around the corner.

During my stay in the United States, I would like to get to know the “American way of life” and make lots of wonderful memories with my host family and new friends. At the same time, I want to show my host family as much of the German culture as possible, for example by cooking German dishes. It is also important for me to really get part of the family by spending time together and by taking on small everyday tasks. At home, I'm used to keeping my own room clean, taking out the garbage and empying the dishwasher. I also help in our little garden and take care of my pets, my cat and my two bunnies.
