Hello dear host family!

I am Omar, I am 16 years old. I live in a coastal cities in Egypt. My father works as an Engineer and my mother is currently unemployed and I have two younger sisters. We do different activities together, at home, we play board games together and I sometimes play chess with my father, and we watch new movies, TV series or TV shows every weekend, and sometimes we just sit, have a hot drink and talk with each other on different topics. Outside, we often go to clubs and talk with each other there, and we sometimes hangout and see new places around the city. We sometimes even go on a road trip and see cities we've never been to before and try desserts that are popular in the visited city and maybe visit museums if there was in the city.

Moving to my responsibilities at home, of course my room is my own responsibility and I'm responsible for organizing and keeping my room clean and I'm responsible for taking out the trash. We also share cleaning the house together, but at first everyone cleans their own rooms and organizing them, then we share in cleaning the living room, hallways, toilets, balconies, kitchen and the place in front of the door. We share in cleaning them by giving each others places to clean, for example, I say that I will clean the toilet, and my sister will say that she will clean the balconies and so on so we don't waste much time.

I am interested in a lot of things actually, like robotics, calligraphy, basketball, programming, reading, playing the piano and learning new languages. I made hobbies from these interests, in robotics I learned some general knowledge then developed the skill of making robots and I made a solar tracking robot with the help of my classmates. I also joined multiple music competitions where I play the piano. In calligraphy, I just train every now and then by watching calligraphers on the internet write and explain or even go to an Arabic calligraphy school and learn calligraphy. I train basketball three times a week and I love playing it with my friends at school and I like to read a chapter of a book everyday.

With my friends, we often go outside together and talk with each other about life, school related stuff and what we've done today, and check on each other with conversations. We also like to play board games every time we go outside and hangout because it's so fun just like playing with my family, and we of course train basketball with each other, and probably basketball is the only shared interest we have as we have different interests, I like reading, the other doesn't but instead he likes something else and so on. These different interests are good as we give each other an idea of them and keep them to our knowledge and we help each other with them, for example, my friends ask me if I could write a birthday gift card for them as my handwriting is good and I ask them for example to teach me some moves in chess. We also often hangout to try new food or desserts with each other from time to time, and lastly, we sometimes play video games but only on vacations.

My city is considered small relative to other cities in the country. It's also a relatively quiet town and it's not overcrowded or overpopulated but it's more of balanced. Probably everything in the town is chill and quiet and that is good for studying or reading generally or just sitting in peace. The main plan of my future is to become a pilot, but that could be a bit expensive, so I made another plan to reach that goal and it is to go to an aerospace engineering college and then work as an aerospace engineer at an airport and save some money from that career so I can afford to get a plane license so I can in the future apply for becoming a pilot in an airliner company.

I would like for the host family to know that I am the quiet person type, not the quiet at all but the quiet and chill type. I like to have conversations every now and then with my family, and that I am always willing to help my family whenever they need and that I am always there. As a future exchange student, what I would like to gain from the exchange experience is to of course learn more about different cultures and introduce my country's culture and history and beat the idea of stereotypes of different cultures because as we know, the media will never be like real life. I would also like to make new relationships and know more people and have a different life experience in general which will of course develop my confidence. And lastly of course is to experience a new educational system, and learn new and different concepts and experience relatively different classes at school, and try new activities like American football or baseball and develop my current basketball skills and join different school activities. At the end I would like to give all my appreciations and thanks to the host family. I would like to remind you that you are the heroes connecting different people and different cultures together, and as a future exchange student, I of course see that as a really great thing.
