Dear Host Family,
My name is Melina and I live in nothern Germany, In a big beautiful city with a population over 1 million. I love my city because of the beatiful places it has, we have a big lake in the middle of the city central, we also have the big harbor and it is is one of the greenest places.
My family has been living there for many years and I myself was born and raised here.
I live with my Mom and my two cats Luna and Oscar in a big house with a big garden.
My Dad lives with his girlfriend and her two daughters not far away, so I visit any other weekend.
My older siblings moved out years ago and they are all over 21.
I am currently going into 10th grade and I really like going to school, every morning I drive with the bus to school and sometimes my Mom drives me. I love the subjects Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English, they are the most interesting ones in my opinion. Learning is pretty easy for me and I enjoy learning new things. School normally goes up to 3.30 PM, except on Thursdays, every Monday after classes I help the 6th graders do their Homework for a little money. As a small job I am also babysitting, I love children and especially the youngest are a bright joy, playing with them and learning with them is a great opportunity.
When school is over I usually like to hang out with my friends if it is the cinema or just Netflix and chill, spending time with them is really nice. Five times a week I am at the Stable and take care of my horse, Summer is 7 years old and came from bad circumstances. A horse is a big responsibility but in the 2 years I had her it felt pretty easy, I have been doing horseback riding since I am 8 years old and still do. My sister loves horses too, so when I am in the US she will be taking care of Summer.
In the Wintertime I like being at the mountains and go skiing, I also started at 8 years old but unfortunately because I don’t live near ski slopes or Mountains I only have the opportunity to go to a indoor ski resort that is nearby, still fun but not exactly the same. Baking and Cooking are things I love to do, doing Yoga at home or just watch a Movie or series with my family, quality time is important to me and mostly I am spending it with my friends and family.
I am super excited to start a new journey, learn about your country and culture, your foods and traditions. It would be great to share a bit of my country too, maybe I could cook a traditional German dish for you?
Doing activities with your Family would be great, I would like being integraded as much as possible that also means I am willing to do chores and tasks around the house or anywhere else.
I would love to thank you before hand and learn more about you my future host family!
Sincerely yours,
Melina
