Dear host family,
My name is Yanis, I'm 17 years old, I have brown hair with brown eyes and I'm also very tall, measuring exactly 1.93 meters. I am a Christian but I rarely practice. I'm a kind-hearted, empathetic, curious, open-minded person who enjoys meeting new people and discover new places abroad and in France. I can also say that I'm proud of my sense of work. My parents taught me that nothing is free in this world and that I have to work to get what I want. In order to earn money, I worked in a slaughterhouse, it was hard work but I'm proud to have done it.
I am from a familly of 4. My mother have 6 brothers and sister, and my father only have one brother, so I have many cousins. I have a sister, she left the family home. My dad is an industrial maintenance department manager and my mom is an office assistant. Our family is very close-knit, we do lots of activities together, watching movies, playing board games, going for walks and many others. But I also spend time with my cousins, grand-parents, aunts and uncles, for example, we rent a large house for 2 days to spend a weekend all together and enjoy the whole family and we also get together to have lunch. My family and my friends mean a lot for me, they are very important in my life. I think when you're with people you love, you're less angry, your life feel better and thats why I don’t like to be alone and I love meeting new people.
I've always been surrounded by good friends, and I'm still good friends with my middle school friends. I really enjoy the time I spend with them, both at school and in our free time. We like to play soccer or just spend time together, but It’s always a pleasure to be with them.
I've practised many sports in a club, as basketball, climbing, systema (it’s a martial art) for 2 years, soccer for 1 year, handball during 3 years, and tennis for 5 years. Actually , I only go to the gym. When I'm in the USA, I'd like to start playing basketball and soccer again, and I'd also like to try out new sports like baseball or even surfing if possible. During winter, I also ski and snowboard with my family, I love the feeling of glide and speed.
I'm passionate about cars and motorcycles, I've been to a lot of car shows, I’ve even been to the french race of moto gp (it’s the main category in the motorbikes races) but my other passion is for the soccer team of Saint-Etienne, I'm a stadium season ticket holder, I go to all the home games at the stadium with my father, one of my cousins and my friends.
I'm pretty good at studying, I study in the field of technological innovation and eco-design, I am personally specialized in technological innovation and my dream job is to become a nuclear mechanic and work abroad in as many countries as possible.
This trip to he USA will enable me to gain in maturity, autonomy and self-confidence, and I'll be back in France billingual. But before all that, it will be an extraordinary experience, where I'll meet lots of people, and a new family on the other side of the world. What's more, I've always wanted to travel the world, and my dream destination is the United States. I've been wanting to live the life of a high school student in this country for several years now, and this dream is becoming a reality.
I hope, it would be a humanly and culturally enriching experience for you and for me, I think I am sociable and positive, we will be able to exchange some parts of our cultures. I am ready to help you in your daily tasks and household chores. I'll do my best to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
