Dear American Family,

Hi! I am very excited to introduce myself and share a little about my life, interests, and dreams. My name is Elang, and I come from a small town in Indonesia, where I live with my family. They have always supported me in everything I do as long as its positive, in academics, extracurricular activities, or hobbies. I am very grateful to have them, because they always tell me to work hard and follow my passions. My family and I enjoy spending quality time together whenever we can, especially on weekends or holidays. Our favorite activities include going to the mall, trying new foods at restaurants, and visiting bookstores, where we pick out books to read and share. We also enjoy cooking together at home, a simple activity that has become very special to us. On movie nights, we watch movies together,  At home, I help with daily household chores such as sweeping, mopping the floor, cleaning the bathroom and of course tidying my room.

I am currently in 10th grade, and I am very interested in science, especially astronomy. Ever since I learned about stars and galaxies, I have been fascinated by space and the endless mysteries it holds. I dream of studying astrophysics or aerospace engineering at a prestigious university, such as MIT, and I am working hard to make this dream a reality. School is very important to me, and I find great motivation in my studies, especially when it comes to subjects that bring me closer to my goals. Outside of school, I enjoy participating in Pramuka (similar to the Boy Scouts), where I get many life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and problem solving. The lessons I have learned from Boy Scouts are invaluable, and I know they will serve me in many areas of my life.

I am also fortunate to have a close group of friends who share similar interests. We spend a lot of time together, whether studying, participating in extracurricular activities at school, or just hanging out and having fun. Together, we enjoy discussing a lot of things, including academic subjects, especially science, and we help each other with school projects and activities. They are a big part of my daily life and make me very happy. We also enjoy exercising; on the weekends, I often play basketball for the past 4 months and go to the gym twice a week on the weekends, because it helps me get in better shape and calms my mind and stays healthy.

Another activity that I enjoy is drawing. The first time was started learning drawing is 3 years ago from my friend that very good at drawing, from that moment, i started to get interested and decided to learn to draw. Whenever I have free time or feel like I need to de-stress, I turn to drawing, specifically creating characters inspired by anime, webtoons, and other sources. Art is not just a hobby for me it is a way to express my creativity and channel my thoughts. In each drawing, I try to capture the emotions and details that bring my characters to life. This hobby has become an important part of my life and brings me joy whenever I need a break from my studies.

I live in a small, quiet town, which still has lots of large and green rice fields. where I live there is a combination of modern shops and traditional markets, where people gather to buy various basic necessities, such as rice, vegetables, fruit and side dishes, apart from that, handmade goods and local food can also be found. My city is also nicknamed the City of Herbal Medicine, because there are many herbal medicine centers, it is also one of the largest herbal medicine markets in Southeast Asia.

In the future, I have a big dream to study abroad, meet new people, and expand my understanding of the world. Being selected to be part of the KLYES program is a big step towards this goal, and I am very grateful for this opportunity. I am eager to learn about life in the US, experience American culture firsthand, and explore the education system. I am also excited to share Indonesian culture with you, from traditions to language and daily life. I hope that during my time with your family, I can learn from you and share my own experiences, creating memories and friendships that will last a long time.

For my future career, I want to become an astronaut or space scientist, this job is something I have dreamed of since I was 5 years old, because since childhood, I have been interested in celestial objects, the more I grow, the more often I see things related to astronomy and this makes me even more interested in achieving this goal that i have been dreamed of. To achieve this, I continue to study astronomy, take part in extracurricular activities that support it and also plan to take this major when I go to college.

When I return to Indonesia, I plan to share everything I have learned with my family, friends, and teachers, helping them better understand American culture and education. I am confident that this experience will have a significant impact on my life and will inspire me to continue pursuing my dreams. Thank you for considering me as part of your family.
