Exchange Student Finder |
Dear Future Host Family,
My name is Lai, and I am a 15-year-old student from Germany. I am currently in the 10th grade, and it has always been my dream to go to America and do a year abroad. I have been thinking about it for a long time, and I am very excited about the chance to experience a new culture, improve my English, and create unforgettable memories. I am really grateful for this opportunity and happy to introduce myself to you.
I live with my father and my two sisters. My parents are divorced, and my older brother lives with my mother, while my oldest sister already has her own home. Even though we don’t all live together, my family is very important to me, and I enjoy spending time with them whenever I can. I love talking with my family, playing games, or just eating together.
A normal weekday for me starts early in the morning when I get ready for school. I have school until 3:45, and after that, I either meet up with friends or do my schoolwork. I like to have a good balance—spending time with people but also making sure I stay on top of my studies. In the evenings, I enjoy relaxing, watching a movie, or reading a book.
In my free time, I love being active. I am not in a specific sports club, but I really enjoy gymnastics and running. Sports make me feel good, and I like trying different activities just for fun. Besides that, I also love being creative—painting is something I enjoy, even though I am still learning. It helps me express myself and relax.
I also really love spending time with children. I feel like I have a natural connection with them and love playing with them, helping them learn, and making them laugh. Animals are also very special to me. At home, I have a cat and some fish, and I love taking care of them. I think animals bring a lot of happiness, and I always feel calm when I am around them.
One thing I have noticed about myself is that I can be a little shy at first. Meeting new people sometimes makes me nervous, but once I get to know them, I become very open and talkative. I love to laugh and joke around, and I enjoy being with people. At the same time, I also like quiet moments. Sometimes, I enjoy being alone in my room, lighting a candle, and just relaxing in a peaceful atmosphere.
What excites me most about my exchange year is experiencing life in America, going to school there, and being part of a new culture. I have always dreamed of celebrating holidays like Thanksgiving or the 4th of July and seeing how they are in real life. I want to challenge myself, make new friends, and learn from this amazing experience. I know there will be challenges, but I am excited to grow as a person and step out of my comfort zone.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I truly appreciate this opportunity and would be very grateful to become part of your family for this special year.
warm regards,
Lai
