Dear future host family,

my name is Johanna and I'm 16 years old.

At first I want to say thank you that you think about choosing me as you future exchange student and want me to be a part of you family during my exchange year. With this letter I want to introduce myself to you.

I live in a city in Germny. My family and I live in a flat right in the center of the city. I have my own room. The things I like the most in my room are my bookshelf and the pull-up bar. This things also represent some of my hobbies. I like reading, I've read since I learned it. I used to read a lot, especially in the COVID time. About the pull-up bar, it was the first sport equipment I got. It reprecences my love to sport. At the moment I'm using it to learn chin-ups.

I also used to dance and climb, although I'm a little bit scared of height, but I gave up these hobbies because I changed school and I knew it would be much harder to get good grades and I would have to study more.

In general I spend much time with my friends, especially my best friend. We are literally neighbors. We don't go to the same school or have the same friends but that all doesn't matter and we spend the most possible time together.

My family are my parents and my two younger siblings. We are close to each other and spend much time together. I also have a really good relationship with my parents. My father is a traffic engineer and my mother works as a school social worker. My father enjoys outdoor activities like climbing and hiking. Sometimes when we have good weather, we all go to a nearby mountainous area to hike or climb the mountains. My mother is a really creative person, this talent she also uses often for projects at her work. My sister takes dance classes, goes climbing and loves reading. She is also very creative. My brother is like me a really sport active person, he plays basketball in an association, he also likes playing football or climbing. Something interesting about my family is that my mother is from Bolivia and we all speak Spanish, not perfectly and at very different levels but we all grew up hearing and talking at least a little bit of Spanish.

On normal school days I wake up at 6:30 am. I get ready, eat breakfast and pack my backpack. At 7 am I leave the house and walk like 3 minutes to the tram stop. At 7:30 am school starts. Most times I enjoy school because of the time I spend with my friends there. I also like learning new things. Of course not Physics but for example we have a subject called “Health and Social Affairs” and the things we learn in this subject are really interesting and pretty cool. School ends between 1 pm and 4 pm.

After school I go home and do something for school. In my free time I often meet my friends and we take a walk or just hang around at their or my place. My hobbies are going to the gym, riding, reading and lisening to music. I mostly go to the gym 2-3 times a week. On Saturdays I go to the riding club, I enjoy the time I spend there a lot. I really love horses and riding them. I am definitely not a professional but I’m good at riding. I would appreciate if I could continue horse riding during my exchange year.

I have always been curious about different cultures and ways of life, wich is why I decided to live one year abroad. I also want to do an exchange year is because I want to improve my English skills. But what I want even more is to meet new people and  I'm very interested in all the different cultures.I also really want to improve my English skills.

I’m looking forward to a great time and new experiences with you.

Yours Johanna
