Dear American Family,

My name is Brahim, a 16-year-old from Morocco. I'm currently in 11th grade and hope to graduate soon. I live in a humble home with my family: my father, a teacher who's also the ''caretaker'' of the house. He brings everything necessary for us to live. My mother, a housewife and loving mom who takes care of my siblings. My younger brother, an energetic kid who loves consuming modern day media, and my adorable baby sister.

When at home, I mainly just mind my business and do my work if I have any, or I just sit in my room and play some music. I sometimes help my mom with her chores as well. Occasionally my family and I go on trips and picnics. We also travel around Morocco and check out different cities. in the past 3 years, we have gone to a fair amount of different locations, one of them was ''Ifran'' which was pretty wholesome and fun, after all, ''Ifran'' is known for its snowy weather which I really love.

Where I live isn't that impressive of a place nor is there that much to do in it, which is unfortunate but my friends and I make the most of it, playing basketball at the local park every weekend and hanging out at an internet cafe.

I love movies, books, and my two main passions are art and sports. I play basketball often but haven't been able to practice boxing due to the lack of a gym nearby. Instead, I've started lifting weights and am seeing good results. When it comes to art, I don't talk about it usually. In my eyes, anything can be art. Art for me is something that holds meaning behind it or something just visually appealing and intriguing to me or something I relate to a lot. It could be a song, movie, painting, anything...

As of now, I don't have any plans for the future, I'm currently lost and I'm just hoping for the best, but I know that someday I'll be successful. I think what I want to do is still hidden deep within me and I just have to discover it, but for now I'm just going with the flow.

As I mentioned earlier, my city isn't the best place to settle in, there is barely anything to do and the activities here are very limited. But it's somewhere that provides me a home to live in. Although it's not exciting to be one of the citizens of this town, I still consider it as my hometown.

I want you guys to know that I'm a curious person. I like learning and discovering new concepts and ideas and I'm open-minded about everything. I'm also sociable, so I can talk to and meet new people, and easily adapt to new environments. My main goal in getting to be a part of this program is to discover what it's like to live in a different country while being surrounded by new people with a different culture, I would also like to share my culture and clear up the stereotypes that come with it. And in general, just live an entirely new and exciting experience, and maybe share what knowledge I gained from this program with my people.

Finally, I want to say that I'm really grateful and thankful for this opportunity and it will be such an honor for me to be a part of the YES program.

With kind regards,
Brahim
