Dear Host Family,

My name is Louis, I am 15 years old, and I come from Germany.

I am applying for an exchange year because I am eager to learn more about different cultures and improve my English skills. I want to experience everyday life in another country, fully immerse myself in your family’s routines, and become a part of your community.

I am convinced that this experience will allow me to grow as a person and create unforgettable memories that will shape my future.

About Me and My Family

I have a close relationship with my family—my parents, and my younger brother, my Grandparants and my uncle. We love spending time together, whether it’s going on trips, playing games, or just enjoying each other’s company.

My brother is one of the most important part in my life. It's always fun to spend time with him and do things with him.

I can hardly imagine life without him as well as with my family. My parents have always supported me, and they encouraged me to take this step because they know how valuable this experience will be for me.

I am incredibly grateful for their support and for the opportunity to embark on this journey.

My Interests and Hobbies

In my free time, I love being active and spending time with friends. I play soccer and do boxing, both of which help me stay fit and focused. Sports are an important part of my life because they allow me to challenge myself, meet new people, and have fun.

Of course, sometimes I also play on the PC or Playstation. But I always try to keep a healthy mix between gaming, sports, family and friends.

In the summer, I enjoy swimming in our pool at home or going water skiing. I also love diving and exploring the underwater world. Music is another passion of mine—I enjoy listening to different genres and occasionally playing the piano, even though I have never taken lessons. Music helps me relax and unwind.

Besides sports, I love spending time with my family, whether we go bowling, watch movies, or simply talk. I believe that strong relationships with family and friends are essential in life.

My goals in life

My goals in life are probably not that difficult to summarize. I want to complete my Abitur and then study architecture to eventually work as an architect. In the future, I aim to start my own company, have a small family, and live in a beautiful house.

Independence is very important to me, both professionally and personally. I want to shape my life in a way that allows me to make my own decisions and have the freedom to pursue my own happiness. Of course, friends are also a big part of my life, and I hope to always maintain good relationships and have fun.

My goal is to be happy in everything I do and to enjoy life to the fullest.

My Personality and Strengths

I would describe myself as friendly, social, and open-minded. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about their perspectives. I am also responsible and independent—I like helping at home, whether it’s preparing meals with my mom or taking care of small tasks on my own.

Whenever I face a challenge, I try to solve it independently before asking for help. I believe this mindset will help me adapt quickly to life in a new country.

Of course, I have my weaknesses too. Sometimes, I procrastinate when I have tasks to complete, and I can get distracted by things that seem more fun. However, I am working on improving my time management skills.

Why I Want to Be Part of Your Family

I am truly excited about the idea of living with a host family, experiencing a new culture firsthand, and creating meaningful connections. I look forward to sharing my own traditions while learning about yours.

I hope that this exchange year will not only help me improve my English but also give me the opportunity to grow as a person and gain new perspectives on the world.

I can’t wait to meet you and become part of your family! Thank you for giving me the chance to be part of this amazing experience.

Best regards,

Louis
