Hello dear host family,
First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking part in this program. If you choose me, I will try to bring joy, dynamism and humor into your life.
My name is Margot, I'm 16. I'm in my last year of school, but I'm a year ahead at school. In fact, I love high school. I see my friends every day and I love studying, even if it's sometimes difficult. I like math and sport, but I don't really like literature. School takes up a lot of my time, so I can't do much when I get home, but when I have time, I love to read fantasy books. My favorite book is Harry Potter (not very original, but...). I go to athletics twice a week. I love it because when the day is long and hard with exams at school, I can just think about something else and run. I've also been playing the piano for a long time, but this year I'm finding it hard to find the time because school is getting harder and I have to study a lot. But when I do have the time, I really enjoy playing. I like to play with my friends and sing. I've taken an optional course at school so I can play with my group and we can do lots of really fun projects.
When I'm not at school, sport or the piano, and I have time for myself (very rarely), I enjoy reading, cooking and, above all, my all-time favorite activity: scouting. It's where I met all my closest friends and where I have most of my best memories. With scouts, we do so many great things. We're a group, we camp, we play outdoors, we build projects for ourselves or for the community. We help those in need. And during summer vacation, we do a two-weeks camp. These are my two favorite weeks of the year. It's where I met my group of friends, to whom I'm very close. I spend every weekend with them. We like to get together just to talk and laugh.
To say more about my personality, I'd say I'm a very dynamic person when I'm around people. I like to make people laugh and I also like to meet new people. Every year at school, I get to know new students, and even if they don't become my best friends, I like meeting new personalities.I consider myself as a kind and respectful person. I owe this to my parents who taught me everything and who raised me with all their love.I am extremely greatful because it is thanks to them if I do so many activities and if I can do this year, one of my biggest dream .
I also think it's very important to experience as many things as possible. For example, I'm going to watch opera for 3 hours next weekend, I'm not sure I'll like it but it's a great experience.
These are reasons why I want to do this exchange year. I want to meet new people and learn about their culture and way of life. I also want to discover the United States, the school, the places, the food... And I think it is a GREAT experience.
I think it will teach me a lot about myself, and I also see it as a year for me to enjoy life, even though I'm going to be concentrating on school and it's going to take a lot of energy to make friends and live in a totally different place. But I know I'm going to love it.
This year is going to bring me a lot, but I think I can bring a lot too. I really want to bring with me my French culture. That way, I'll be able to talk about different subjects with people who lived all their life at the other side of the world. I'm sure it will be very interesting to talk with people who don't have the same lifestyle. And I really want to discover everything about life in the US!
I'll also do my best to be the happiest version of myself and bring a lot and lot of joy to your home.
Thank you and see you soon!
