Dear Host Family,

I am 14 years old and live in Australia. I’m very close and supportive to my family. My parents always encourage me to try new things, and we enjoy spending time together, whether it’s sharing meals, playing board games, or going on trips.I also have an older and younger sister who both love to read and swim, so our house is usually full of energy and laughter. We have some family traditions, like playing board games or watching a movie on weekend nights, which I really enjoy and hope to share with you during my stay. These moments have taught me the importance of spending time with loved ones and creating lasting memories.

I’m eager to learn about your way of life, traditions, and day-to-day activities. I see this as a unique opportunity to grow as a person and gain new perspectives on the world. I can’t wait to experience the culture and high school just like what I see in the movie.
At my current high school, I am part of a selective enrichment program where I study an advanced version of the curriculum, including higher-level and extension subjects. I enjoy subjects like Music, PE, and Science, as I have always been curious and eager to learn.I work hard to maintain good grades across all subjects while also making time to relax and enjoy life. My study habits are consistent, and I like to organize my time well to balance academics with other activities. I believe being disciplined with my studies allows me to enjoy my hobbies and spend quality time with friends and family even more.

I have completed my Surf Rescue Certificate at my local club, and I patrol the beach regularly, about once a month. I also play Youth Football (Soccer). In my free time, I love riding my bike, playing and listening to music, watching TV, playing soccer, surfing, and hanging out with friends. On weekends, I enjoy playing games on my PS4 with friends. Recently, I’ve taken up drawing, which has been a fun and rewarding way to challenge myself creatively.

A typical school day starts later compared to schools in America. My classes begin at 8:55 AM and end at 3:15 PM. The day consists of six periods where I alternate between different subjects. On Tuesdays during lunch, I participate in the Student Representative Council, where we organize events and fundraising efforts for the school. On Thursdays, I volunteer by helping with tasks like taking out recycling or assisting staff.

I’m often described as a curious, confident and witty person. I value kindness, trust and respect. including learning about others, which is why I’m so excited about this exchange experience. I believe it’s a wonderful chance to immerse myself in a new culture and form meaningful connections with new people. I’m also eager to learn about your way of life, traditions, and day-to-day activities. I see this as a unique opportunity to grow as a person and gain new perspectives on the world.

I hope to contribute to your family life by sharing my culture, which reflects both my Australian and Brasilian background. I am more than happy to help around the house with tasks such as taking the dog for a walk, setting the table, doing the dishes, helping with cooking, and being a thoughtful, engaged member of the family. I would also love to assist in meals and enjoy fun activities with you. At school, I will work hard, actively participate in activities, and strive to be a positive and respectful student. I also look forward to becoming part of the host community by volunteering, joining local events, and meeting new people. I believe being involved in these ways will help me better understand the culture and make the most of this experience.

Kind Regards, Henrik
