Dear American Families:
Hi, my name is Rubi! I’m seventeen years old. I live with my parents, my sister, and my brother. We also have a little dog, who is like the baby of the house, and a beautiful cat who is more serious… but we love them both.
I have a great relationship with my family. I love when my family and I go out and visit new places, like museums, another state, or somewhere in the city.
I hope that I can participate in this wonderful program I really want to learn more about the culture and the country. I think it would be such an interesting and fun experience! I also hope to build a great friendship with people that I will meet there and share many experiences together. This opportunity is amazing, and it will also help me improve my language skills. On the week all the mornings I go to my English classes and I really like it, there are fun and I like the way that teachers teach the language so I feel that I’m ready for this experience.
As for me, I’m friendly, kind, generous, happy and patient. I can be a little introverted at times, but I really enjoy meeting new people. My hobbies include reading books about romance, horror, science fiction, etc. My favorite writer is Joana Marcus. Another hobbie that I have is drawing, watching movies or series and I also love hiking and visiting museums here and outside of my country with my family. I love cats and my favorite singer is Taylor Swift.
My expectations for this exchange are learn more about the culture and I want to create a wonderful moments with people and have many friends and also I hope that I could speak and communicate better.
If you want I could cook Mexican food like chilaquiles (made of crispy tortilla chips soaked in red or green salsa, topped with cheese, sour cream, and sometimes eggs or shredded chicken), enchiladas (made of corn tortillas rolled around a filling, usually chicken and covered in red or green sauce), sincronizadas (made with two flour tortillas filled with ham and cheese, then grilled until crispy, similar to a quesadilla) or apple salad and I really hope that you like Mexican food and I will cook my best. Sometimes I try to cook another things like desserts, and if you want I can cook it for us.
If you want I could teach you some words in Spanish or the things that Mexican people do in their daily life or maybe talk you about Mexican celebrations.
Sincerely, Rubi.
