Letter to host family

Dear future host family,

My name is Elisa but you can call me Ellie and I'm 15 years old.

I'm very excited to have the opportunity to stay with you and be your future exchange student. It would be a great pleasure if you choose me. Thank you for making my wish come true!

I'm from Germany and I live with my mum, my dad, my sister and my dog. My dog's name is Kylie and she is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. I actually have two sisters, but my big sister lives in England at the moment.  We live in a house with a small front garden and a big back garden. We have a good relationship and we always support each other.

In my free time I like to go for walks, hang out with my friends, listen to music and do any kind of sport. In winter I often go skiing and I'd say I'm really good at it because I've been doing it since I was two years old. I'm in a karate club, an athletics club and a gymnastics club. Something pretty cool about me is that I love to bake, so maybe I could show you my favourite German desserts.

I like to travel with my family, friends and alone. I often visit my grandmother in northern Germany. I also worked on a farm in Switzerland, where I got to work with lots of animals. Animals are so great and my favorite animals are sharks and crocodiles. I think they are so majestic.

I'd describe myself as an active, fun person who cares about others and always has an open heart and ear. I fight for my goals and support my family or friends in doing the same. I'm also very creative and like to have a plan B. Discipline is important to me because I like to push myself to be the best I can be.

I've been to the USA twice and loved it. Since the first time I've fallen in love with your country, your food and your kindness, but I want to learn and discover so much more. I hope to meet new people and experience a different culture so that I'm open to trying new things. I also think that being there for 10 months is great to improve my English, which is so cool.

I got the idea of doing an exchange year when my dad and I visited his host family from the past. It was very nice and they are still in contact and have such a good relationship, so I think it's great to have like a second family abroad.

I'm looking forward to meeting you in the summer and can't wait to get to know you. All the best and see you soon

Ellie
