Hello, how are you? Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and learn a little bit about me.

My name is Marco, I am 17 years old, I am an only child and I live in Mexico. My family is small but very close. I live with my parents and my dog, she is adopted. We adopted her during the pandemic. I wanted to have a dog, but I was only allowed to have a couple of fish, so when we adopted my dog, it was a very happy moment for the whole family.

I am lucky that my two grandmothers and my maternal grandfather are still alive, we visit them every weekend and I enjoy their company very much. At my maternal grandparents' house, we like to play board games because we laugh a lot and we all join in, so it is a very nice time because we are all together. At my maternal grandmother's house they like to watch movies, so after dinner we make popcorn or some snacks and each of us picks a movie on the weekend.

For eleven years I was the only grandchild in my mother's and father's family, then my only cousin was born, and now there are two of us, although we have a considerable age difference, I see him every two weeks and he loves it when we sometimes go to school to pick him up, he gets very excited.

My favorite time of the year is Christmas, I really enjoy the cloudy and cold days. My mom and I are in charge of putting up and decorating the Christmas tree, we like to play Christmas music and we get very excited. We love playing Christmas music and wearing Santa hats to decorate, I love spending those moments with her and then sharing dinner and presents with the rest of the family.

I've been going to the gym for a few years now and I like to see how I've progressed. The gym has helped me develop skills like discipline and perseverance. Going to the gym helps me take the stress out of school and leaves me ready and in the mood to do my homework in the afternoon. I also play tennis, when I was younger I practiced every day at a high performance academy, and on vacations we went to state tournaments as a team and I even won some prizes in singles and doubles. When I entered high school, I dedicated myself to studying and now I play tennis on the weekends. I go to a club and since my parents also like to play tennis, it allows us to spend time together, I played a couple of tournaments with my mom and we did quite well, I like it a lot, especially because tennis develops your mentality and your tolerance for frustration. It's like a game of chess where you build your moves by watching your opponent.

One of my goals is to go to college, I want to study industrial engineering, I am interested in everything related to process optimization, I want to learn how to manage a company or a process to contribute to its better functioning, so when I return from the exchange my plan is to enter the university and try to find a job in the summer or winter so I can develop other skills such as dealing with customers, problem solving, service and everything that can be learned in a job so I can apply it later when I graduate from college.

During my stay with the family who kindly hosted me, I would like to learn some things that I know will be beneficial, such as learning to adapt to the circumstances, different customs and habits from those I have with my family, also meet more friends and establish a lasting friendship so that when there is an opportunity, come to visit me in my country to show them so many places we have and a variety of food.

I appreciate the opportunity to receive me in your home, I hope I can live up to your expectations, I am a very dedicated and persevering young man, respectful and honest, and I am with great expectation and nervous to start the exchange, I have never been away from home alone so I know this will be a before and after for the rest of my life, thank you very much for reading my letter and knowing a little more about me. I hope to meet you soon.
