Dear future host family,

My name is Hanna, and I am very excited to introduce myself to you! First of all, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I truly appreciate the opportunity to spend a year with your family, and I am grateful for the possibility to immerse myself in your culture and way of life.

I live in Germany, and I would describe myself as an active, curious, and open-minded person. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it's hiking, cycling, or simply taking a walk in the park. I started practicing athletics some years ago and I enjoy horse riding a lot. Music plays a significant role in my life as well. I’ve been playing the piano for 10 years with great passion and dedication, and I also learned how to play cello.

Besides these activities, I love spending time with my family. We love playing board games together and often have cozy game nights at home. I also have a cute little dog named Bambi, a dwarf poodle, who brings so much joy to my life. I love playing with him and taking him for walks. Traveling is one of my biggest passions, and I enjoy exploring new places and discovering different cultures. My family and I love to go on vacations and short trips, and it’s always exciting to visit new destinations and experience different parts of the world. I also have a little sister, who is very athletic, she loves playing basketball. She and I spend a lot of time together, talking and having a great relationship. Every week, I go to church where I meet up with other teenagers, and it’s always so much fun. The community there is really nice, and I always feel welcome.

I also spend a lot of time with my friends. We often do all sorts of activities together, like going to the movies, having picnics, or just hanging out together. I always have so much fun with my friends and truly enjoy every moment spent together. Their company brings me so much joy, and I enjoy our time together. It’s always a great experience filled with laughter and unforgettable memories.

Now, let me tell you a bit about why I want to go abroad, and specifically why I’ve chosen the United States. From a young age, I’ve been fascinated by American culture and the lifestyle there. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the United States with my family, and I was truly impressed by the experience. Since then, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to live there and attend school, and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since.

The chance to learn more about the country and its traditions excites me. I am eager to improve my English and experience the language in real-life situations. Living with a host family will be a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about everyday American life, and I look forward to the chance to experience new things and share cultural exchanges. The opportunity to make new friends and discover hobbies that I may not have had the chance to try in Germany is something I am very excited about.

What I look forward to the most is, of course, learning about the American culture and meeting new people. I am also really looking forward to attending an American high school, where I’ll have the chance to improve my language skills while experiencing the unique school culture. I’m excited about using English in my daily life and seeing how it shapes my ability to communicate with others. I can’t wait to make new friendships, explore new places, and dive into everything that life in the United States has to offer, and of course, to meet you, my host family and spend time together.

Once again, I am very thankful for the chance to spend a year in the United States, I am truly excited about this opportunity and I would be honored to become a part of your family. Thank you for considering me as your future exchange student and taking the time to read my letter, and I hope we can make wonderful memories together!

Best regards,

Hanna
