Dear American Family,
I am Ian, I am 15 years old and I am an only child. My father works and my mother does not work. We like to talk and do things together such as in the weekend we go out to eat and have fun.
I am an only child so at home I do almost everything, sometimes in the weekend I clean the house, I clean windows I vacuum or sweep then I mop, I do the dishes every night, I clean the yard, I mow my street also, I wash my parents' car and I also look after my pets every day, I have 1 dog, 2 bunnies and 2 birds. When my parents are busy with something I like to help also because I know that I will learn something from it.
I participate in sports. I play football (soccer), volleyball and chess. Saturday is my soccer day, I also play on other weekdays when my friends call me to come play. I play volleyball every Tuesday and Friday and chess every day and every Thursday I go to a chess academy.
At last I also like to fish but I don't go often because my father doesn't have that much time. I also do hydroponics, at the moment I am busy planting callaloo, its a vegetable we eat.
I have made many friends through my participation in different sports, but I only have 4 best friends. One is quiet but can sometimes be naughty and likes to fish and play games. The other one is sometimes quiet and plays soccer and volleyball as well. The other one is not quiet but not busy either and likes motorcycles and sometimes also plays volleyball with me. The last one is my neighbour, he likes soccer and he is with me almost every day. We do a lot together such as study, play soccer, volleyball and games. He also comes along when I go fish with my father, we bike together and at times we sit and talk, he sometimes helps me take care of my pets. None of my friends plays chess.
My neighbourhood is sometimes very quiet but sometimes very busy. Although our society is diverse, we almost always live well together and everyone knows each other so it is always fun.
In the future I want to work in the oil & gas industry and I want to specialize in it, but also have a few other side hustles because I know if I do that I can open my own businesses. So I do not have to work so hard anymore.
I am someone who likes to help others, because I realize that I will always learn something from it. In addition, I think it is important to push my limits, because every challenge, obstacle or struggle I overcome makes me stronger and strengthens my mindset.
From this exchange experience I know for sure that new doors will open for me and offer new opportunities and that I will increase my knowledge there and I know for sure that I will learn more about the American culture and the American history.
