Dear host family,

Hello, my name is Amélie and I'm 15 years old. I live in Belgium. I have 2 brothers, a younger brother and an older brother.  My parents are separated and don't live together, so I switch homes every week. I love spending time with them. We do many activities together. We often go to an event, a museum, an exposition, see a play... We always try new things. We also walk a lot when we go on vacation.

My hobbies are tennis, scouting, theater, reading and baking. I started playing tennis this year and I love it. I play both tennis and theater at a club. I don't live near mountains, but I really enjoy skiing. I go every year. I have also tried snowboarding, but it's not for me. I also like to see my friends. I am in a group of friends with seven girls and we are all at the same school. When we see each other, we generally go shopping or do an artistic activity, as painting or baking together. Sometimes, we just talk and eat. I love to try new hobbies, I think I'm going to learn to crochet next.

My field of study at school is science and mathematics. I really like that. I speak two languages fluently: French an Dutch. French is my native language but I am in a Dutch-speaking school so I only speak Dutch there. I would really like to help people in the United States if they are learning these languages. I'm a studious and organized person, I dedicate every day a little time to work for school. But, I always make time for my hobbies, my friends and my family. I’m excited to join school clubs or sports teams in the United States and discover new things where I can share my skills and learn from others.

I'm a very optimistic person, I always see the good in situations, life and people. I'm very kind. I try to be a good person. I'm grateful. I'm always thankful. I'm also curious, I love discovering new things and meeting new people. I'm happy with the smallest things. I'm also very adaptable and open-minded. I quickly adjust to new situations. I would be happy to help with the chores, I hope to make things easier for you.

I chose to participate in this school program because I am really interested in discovering a new culture, meeting new people, learning more about the united states and improving my English. I choose this destination because I always wanted to discover the American culture, it's one of my biggest dreams comes true. I'm sure this program will help me grow and will learn me a lot. I am excited to get to know you, your community and learn what it’s like to live in the United States. I'm curious to see what your family looks like and in what state I'm going to live. I look forward to being involved in school activities and local events. I will do my best to adjust quickly and to be respectful.

I am sure that my stay with you will be an amazing experience. I can't wait to meet you and to start this adventure. I will be happy to share my culture and to contribute positively to your home, my school and the community.

I would also like to thank you for your hospitality.
I hope to see you soon,
Amélie
