Dear Host Family,

My name is Otis, and I’m really excited about the chance to live with you and experience life in the U.S.! I wanted to take a moment to tell you a bit more about myself, so you can get to know me before we meet.

I’m 16 years old, and I’m currently in the 10th grade in Germany. School is important to me, and I try my best to stay on top of everything. But honestly, my real passion is kickboxing. I’ve been practicing it for almost six years now, and it’s something that has shaped me in so many ways. I’ve been lucky enough to win the Championship twice and another Championship four times. These experiences have taught me a lot about discipline, hard work, and what it means to push yourself, and I try to carry those lessons with me everywhere in life.

One of the things I’m most proud of is my job as a coach. I’ve been coaching kids for about a year and a half, training children from ages 3 to 16 in kickboxing. It’s honestly one of the most rewarding things I do. I help them improve their skills, but I also try to teach them confidence, discipline, and how to deal with challenges. I travel with them to tournaments too, which is an amazing experience because I get to watch them grow and support them in their competitions. It’s been a great way for me to learn how to be a better leader and a more responsible person.

When I’m not coaching or working on my studies, I love cooking for myself. I’m a little picky with food, but I really enjoy preparing my meals. It’s something I find relaxing. I’m pretty independent. I handle most of my own tasks, from schoolwork to household chores, and I think that’s a big part of growing up. It feels good to take responsibility for things.

At home, I live with my mom and our two cats. They’re both a big part of my life, and I enjoy spending time with them. I also visit my dad regularly, where I spend time with my half-brother and stepsister. They live with two dogs and a cat, so I’m used to being around animals. Even though my parents are separated, I don’t find it sad, and I’m really okay with the situation. I visit my dad often and always look forward to it, it’s nice to be with them, and we have a lot of fun when we’re together.

I think my family situation has made me someone who is understanding and supportive. I get along well with both my parents, and I try to always be there for my half-brother and stepsister. I love spending time with them, but I’m also really excited to meet new people and experience a new family and culture while I’m in the U.S. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and sharing some of the things I love about Germany with you too.

I understand that living with a host family is a unique experience, and I want you to know that I’m really committed to being respectful and helpful. I’m excited about learning all about American life and culture, and I hope to bring a bit of my own background and traditions with me during my stay.

I really believe this experience is going to help me grow and learn a lot. I’m excited to make new memories, share fun experiences, and build lasting friendships. I can’t wait to meet you and start this new adventure together!

Thank you so much for considering me as part of your family. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Best regards,

Otis
