Dear American Family,

Hello, my name is Lilyana (Lily for short) and it's a pleasure to write this letter to my (maybe) future host family. I hope that through this letter I'll be able to express myself and give you a glimpse into my personality. I live in a small, quiet but very beautiful town in Bulgaria. It is known for its museums, our movie theater, dramatic theater, sport clubs and most importantly, its rich history. I have lived there my whole life with my family-my mom, my dad, and my brother, who actually moved to the capital when I was little. I've a strong relationship with them, especially my brother, whom i consider a friend as well. We love hiking together, going to road trips, skiing, going to the beach and more. We always try to spend quality time with each other when we can.

At home one of my main responsibilities is, of course, my room. I clean it at least once a week, though I might clean it more often if it gets messy. I also like to keep it tidy, so I organize it every night. My other chores include washing my own dishes, helping with the laundry, taking out the trash and vacuuming. I like helping around the house as much as possible because I know how tired my parents can get after work.

When it comes to my friends I could talk about them all day. I am truly grateful for all of them. I have a close-knit friend group of five people, including me, and we've been friends for more than seven years now. We're still as close as ever. During the school year, we make time for each other every Friday, and during breaks, we hang out as often as possible. We go on train trips, beach trips, and even hiking adventures. I could list countless other activities but these are my personal favorites.

In the future, I plan on becoming a surgeon-i've known this since I was little. Biology and chemistry have always been my strongest subjects at school. No one in my family has even been a doctor or worked in the medical field, so I hope to be the first. I love the idea of helping people, especially when it comes to saving lives.

I want my host family to be comfortable with me, and I will do my best to built and maintain a strong relationship with them. If I have a host siblings, I want them to see me as a friend, not just as a host sister. I love animals, so if there's a pet in the house, I'd gladly help take care of it. I hope to create unforgettable memories with my host family-memories I can talk about non stop when I return home.

From my exchange year, I hope to gain experience, knowledge, personal growth. I'm looking forward to improving my language skill and gaining confidence speaking it. I want to make new friends and explore new cultures. I want to make the most out of this opportunity by participating in sport activities, volunteering, charity events. I'd like to finish this letter by expressing my gratitude for being given the chance to write it. I hope that the host family reading this finds what they are looking for in their future exchange student-and maybe even sees me as the one.

Sincerely,
Lilyana
