Dear American Family,

My name is Vidan and I am 16 years old. I live in a four member household, now that my older brother moved away for college. Right now i live with my mom, dad and dog. When the weather is treating us well we like to spend time together outside, cycling, going for walks or walking our dog. My dad and I also play basketball outside, with him rebounding for me while I shoot. Also we enjoy going shopping, or eating out.

While my main responsibility is schoolwork and keeping my grades in check, every day for five years now I've been taking care of my dog. I take him on morning walks before school, and twice after school, when I come back home and in the evening. My job is also to feed him, and groom him twice a week because of his long hair. While this might seem like a lot, I don't see any of these things as chores because I love him. Besides this I hang laundry out to dry after it's done washing and fold it after, and I keep my room clean. Occasionally I vacuum the house.

My biggest interest(obsession) is definitely basketball, which I've been practicing actively for the past six years, six times a week now for the past year. I'm a competitor and I strive to be better every single day. I enjoy swimming a lot as well, playing table tennis and going to the gym, but besides that i love seasonal sports - rafting in the summer and skiing in the winter. Another interest I have is solving rubik's cubes, because it's relaxing.

My friends and I really hangout every chance we get. That's usually on the weekend, because our schedules are mostly packed throughout the week. We mostly go out to eat, hangout anywhere in the city, whether it be the mall, walking in the city center, going to play billiard or chilling in our neighborhood. And when it's colder outside, like now, we hang out at each others' places as well, watching sports, playing video games and board games. Sometimes we go on road trips to my country's capital to watch basketball or soccer games. And when it's hot outside during the summer, we play different sports together, and go swimming a lot.

My hometown is more than a thousand years old, but it is also very modern. It has a very rich history, and a lot of cultural landmarks, and places to go sightseeing; however it is also very vibrant and lively, with lots of cool places to hang out at and enjoy. And even tho more than a quarter million people live here, a big majority seems very kind, and it feels like a big community.

I'd like to become a pilot one day. That career path seems very appealing to me, even tho it has its' downsides like every other job, it's still something I aim for. Besides that, my dream, which I'm working towards every day is to play basketball at the highest level I can.

I view myself as a very confident person, I'm communicative and mostly eager to try new things. I have love for animals, but especially for dogs, and I love to travel.

I'd like to go trough new experiences, learn things, make friends and have a good time. My goal is to enrich myself and others during and after my exchange.

Thank you.

Vidan
