Dear American Family, 

Hello! My name is Undine i am from Latvia. I live with my mom and our 3 pets a dog, a bunny and a cat. My mom works in a museum of a very famous Latvian poet. We spend a lot of time together. Because we both love museums we try to go to a museum at least once a month. If we can we try to participate in charity and volunteer work like going to the elderly home and spending time with the people that live there. If we are at home we like playing board games or watching movies together. I meet with my grandparents and my aunt pretty often and we go to different events, concerts or sometimes organize them ourselves.

My responsibilities at home are taking care of our pet's cleaning my bunnies cage, cat's litter box walking the dog and feeding them. If i am not at home or have a lot of schoolwork to do my mom takes care of them for me. I have to keep my room at least somewhat tidy, and i help with household chores like cleaning the rest of the apartment and doing things like washing the dishes and such.

I am interested in a lot of things. I love sewing and have been going to sewing classes for 9 years. I try to spend as much time as possible outside and i love going on hikes and camping. I like learning about the history of different things, places and people. I enjoy going to the gym, but don't go often. I am interested in art and poetry.

I have quite a lot of close friends, most of them are at least 1 year older then me and all of them are interested in poetry and art. Together we are organizing an art, music and poetry festival. In our free time we spend a lot of time together. A lot of the time we go to museums, exhibitions or poetry events. If there is nothing interesting going on we go on walks, explore the forest and have picnics or go to thrift stores, cafes and just talk.

I live in a pretty small city some people think that it is too small and boring, but i like living here and i think that there are plenty of things to do here. There are around 12000 people living here and it becomes more year by year. It is a very strong tourist attraction and i am not surprised because it really is gorgeous here.

I am not too sure about what i want to be in the future. I would like to be a doctor, but also i want to do something related to art. I would also love to be able to travel and explore everywhere, but somehow be able to help people and do something with a good cause.

I am calm, and i would choose going out for coffee or just spending quality time together walking, reading, talking or watching something together over going out, but i don't mind going to a little party once in a while.

From going on an exchange year i would like to get new friends, a second family and people that i feel comfortable with. I want to learn new things about America and American culture and also share with the things that i love about Latvia. I want to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone, get more confident and come back as a stronger version of myself!
