Dear future host family,
first, I want to thank you very much for welcoming me into your home and making this whole experience possible! I feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and I am really excited about spending the school year 2026/ 2027 in the USA and getting to know you and your culture. I hope I can give you a good first impression of me with this letter.
So, my name is Antonia, and I am 15 years old. I currently attend a High School, which I really like because I have many friends there which make daily school life way more fun and of course I also learn interesting stuff. I live in Germany with my parents and my two sisters, we live on a horse farm, which is really cool in my opinion. But beside horses, we also have other pets - three cats and two dogs. I love them very much and enjoy spending time with my pets whenever I have the chance to, so I often take my dogs for a walk or play with my cats. We also have a mini-pig, her name is Mara and she's super cute.
Whether I am not at school or doing homework I enjoy gymnastics in our local gymnastics club two times a week and I also participate in competitions. I really love gymnastics because it is a really fun way to build strength, flexibility and coordination. Of course, I also love horseback riding with my sisters or friends and we can learn from each other and have a great time together. I also do volunteer work: I teach kids how to ride and handle a horse and do little exercises with them and the horses. I have a great time teaching the kids, because I love to spend time with kids in general and I think they are just so adorable when they are so excited. I also like to read and draw in my free time. I mainly draw with pencils, but sometimes I also use watercolours or acrylics, or I draw digitally. In addition, I also hang out with my friends. When we hang out we often meet at cafés or restaurants, go to the movies, bake or cook together or just ride our bikes around town. I would describe myself as a curious person and like trying out new things, whether it is learning a new recipe or starting a creative project.
I have always wanted to do a year abroad, because I want to improve my English, meet new people and find friends with different backgrounds and just experience a new way of life and maybe find new hobbies and passions along the way. I am really excited to experience American High School life, especially all the interesting classes we sadly don't have at my school, like psychology, design or cooking.
For me, this is a great chance to grow personally and broaden my horizons. I am open minded, respectful and eager to learn from you and your culture. I hope we'll have a wonderful time together and create amazing memories.
Thank you again for your kindness and generosity in welcoming me. I truly appreciate it and can't wait to start this amazing adventure!
Best wishes,
Antonia
