Dear host family,

My name is Cecilia, and during my stay in the United States I will be sixteen years old. At the moment I am in ninth grade.
My favorite subjects at school are sports, English, French, and mathematics. I have been learning English since 2019 and French since 2022. After my year abroad I plan to continue school and work towards my final exams. I do not yet have a specific career plan, but I would like to work in a field where I can use both my international experience and my language skills.

I live together with my family in a house with a garden. I have a twin sister and a younger brother. We enjoy spending time together, being active, and sharing family life. My twin sister is also planning to spend a year in the United States in 2026/2027.

I have been playing field hockey with passion since 2015. I like the speed of the game and the strong team spirit. From April to October we play outside, and during the winter we play indoors. In addition, I take guitar lessons once a week. Before that, I played the recorder for two years.
I also take standard dance classes once a week. Dancing is a lot of fun for me, and I really enjoy moving to the music.

In my free time, I enjoy reading exciting youth books, spending time with friends, and doing activities with my family. I also like baking with my younger brother.

At the turn of the year 2024/25, I took part in a two-month exchange program in France. I attended school there, lived with a host family, and experienced French daily life. Afterwards, my exchange partner stayed with me for two months in Germany. In addition, my family has already hosted several exchange students from abroad. Right now, we are hosting a student from Denmark who is staying with us for a whole year and attending school here. Because of this, I know very well what it means to live in a host family and that it is important to actively take part in family life.

I would like to spend a school year in the United States because I really like the English language and want to improve it. I am also curious about the American school system and I look forward to experiencing the culture, traditions, and daily life. I believe that this year will help me grow more confident and independent.

During my stay it is important for me to stay active in sports. I would love to continue playing field hockey, but I am also open to trying other sports.
