Dear family,

My name is Kattalin and I am a 14 years old girl from Spain.

My dad works in a bank and my mom works as an administrative in a hospital. I have a younger sister.

I live in a middle size town, in the northern part of Spain. It is on the coast, so we can go to the beach very often. I enjoy it.

My sister studies grade 6 in a building next to my high school, where I study grade 9 and where she will come next year to study grade 7 to 12.

At school, we study in two languages, Spanish and Basque, but we also study English as a foreign language. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I have two hours of basketball training after school. On Tuesday and Thursday I go to an academy to improve my English.

I used to play badminton and go swimming last year, but the High School is getting more and more difficult so I had to give them up. I hope to retake them when it is possible.

On Saturday morning I play a basketball match with my team, while my sister plays a soccer match with her team. In my free time, which is usually Saturday afternoon, I like listening to music, watching TV, reading books, and hanging out with friends.

On Sunday morning, I usually finish my homework and study, and also try to visit my grandparents (they are 88 and 89 years old!!!). In the afternoon, I meet my Scout group. I have got many friends there and I learn a lot. Sometimes we go hiking in the mountains, which is very nice.

In summertime my family and I usually move to the shore where the beaches are amazing. Sometimes we fly to Mallorca because some of our relatives live there. At the end of the summer we try to make a short break to the Pirineos Mountains.

In July, I have a very special event planned by our scout team: we go to a summer camp for two weeks, where we do lots of different things, such as sleeping in tents, swimming in the river, hiking, talking about the things we care about, and play and enjoy with all the scout group.

I am excited about going to the USA because I know it is going to be a unique and wonderful experience. I have always been eager to fly to the other side of the ocean to meet your culture and learn about the American way of life. Last summer I went to England on holidays to study English, and I stayed there with a host family. After this I think I’m ready to go as an exchange student and live this challenging but amazing experience. I hope my wish comes true having the best experience of my entire life with a great family. I can't wait for it!

Best regards,

Kattalin
